Episode 12 synopsis/recap/summary

Episode summary:

Kang Suk is upset that Jin Jin has a nosebleed, but she just laughs it off and goes to leave to finish delivering papers, but Kang Suk grabs her arm and asks if she is even getting enough sleep at night. Jin Jin says nothing and he tells her that she is his asset now, so she is no longer her own owner (if that makes any sense). He asks if she understands and Jin Jin asks if she can speak informally. This surprises Kang Suk, especially when Jin Jin knocks his hand away and says she is nobody’s asset. She is a singer who signed a contract with an agency, she did not sell herself to his company. It is her turn to ask if she understands. Kang Suk angrily replies that it is Jin Jin who doesn’t understand because a signed singer is an asset of the company and Double Sharp is in charge of nurturing Jin Jin. Jin Jin doesn’t back down and again insists that she is not just an asset. She then tells him that calling someone else an asset is the worse thing he could do, but Kang Suk says that is reality. Jin Jin replies that she doesn’t care about reality, she is no one’s asset so he needs to stop treating her at one. Kang Suk then says how can he when she’s not even taking proper care of herself and is getting nosebleeds. Jin Jin switches back to formal language and Kang Suk just cannot believe what she is doing. She then says she knows her body best and with working the amount of jobs she does in order to survive, she doesn’t get a lot of sleep and nosebleeds are bound to happen on occasion. Jin Jin says she can take care of herself and bids him good day to finish delivering newspapers. Kang Suk stares after her amazed and dumbfounded.

Jin Jin finishes that job and rushes home to pick up the kimbap from Oh. Eo Jin is up bright and early helping Oh make the kimbap. Jin Jin asks if Eo Jin is selling with her again and he says that he will sell kimbap until he needs to go to school. He then asks for 2 thousand won if he helps her sell all of it. Dong Ah comes out at this point and threatens Eo Jin. He has to go straight to school and can’t dawdle and sell kimbap. Eo Jin refuses and tells his uncles to stop interfering in other’s lives. Chun Bo Geun as Eo Jin is a scene stealer. The kid can act and is great at seeming more like and adult than his uncle.

Eo Jin and Jin Jin are busy selling kimbap when Kang Suk happens to drive by and spot Jin Jin. He cannot believe that after what he said earlier that she is hard at work at yet another job. He stops and asks her what she is doing and she says that she is obviously selling kimbap. He then asks who Eo Jin is and Jin Jin replies that he is her loser friend’s nephew. Kang Suk sighs and says that Jin Jin sure has a lot of jobs. Jin Jin then tries to entice him into buying kimbap for breakfast since he probably hasn’t eaten yet. Kang Suk then asks if she is a robot made of steel. Jin Jin thinks he is teasing her and says that she is sure she is a 100% human. Kang Suk then asks how much for all that she has left. Such a typical drama moment. This surprises Jin Jin and she asks if he’s really hungry. Of course he isn’t, this is his way of trying to get Jin Jin to rest a little by buying all the kimbap she is working hard to sell. Jin Jin quickly calculates the total, but gives him a 1,000 won discount for being her president. Kang Suk returns to his car and wonders why he did what he did. He looks out the window and sees Eo Jin and Jin Jin jumping around happily and he says they respectfully call him president all the while they take advantage of him, but he smiles. Jin Jin makes him do a lot of new things.

Back at the house, Jin Jin and gang are busy eating and Jin Jin tells Dong Ah that he is in charge of making rice now that she signed with the company and has to go to practice. Dong Ah gets a call from Yoon Seo, but ignores it making his friends wonder why. Dong Chul says it must be love since he is having a lover’s quarrel and Dong Ah nearly bites his head off. Meanwhile, Yoon Seo is listlessly going through the shop her father gave her to manage (she is supposed to be listening about current store promotions), wondering why Dong Ah is not answering.

Kang Suk returns and Ji Young asks if his golf meeting went well and if it is confirmed that the American Idol-like program is definitely going to happen. Kang Suk says nothing is definite as of yet. This frustrates Ji Young. Kang Suk then offhandedly then gives the staff the bag of kimbap he bought from Jin Jin and tells them to enjoy it. Ji Young is surprised that Kang Suk bought such a large amount for the staff. LOL, of she only knew. Meanwhile, Jin Jin is busy cleaning the rehearsal room. Ji Young goes to find her and ask why the kids aren’t there yet. Jin Jin then replies that the kids told her it is the rookie’s duty to do the cleaning. Ji Young says they are teaching Jin Jin a lesson and they must be mocking her as well. Jin Jin just laughs it off and says that she is used to such treatment. In all her years, there isn’t much she hasn’t come across. Ji Young asks of Jin Joo and Jin Jin replies that she is still the same. Ji Young says that Jin Joo was really something else on stage and Jin Jin agrees that she was always mesmerized when her sister took the stage. Ji Young then says that Jin Jin can be like that, too. Jin Jin asks if that is really true and Ji Young replies that she will do everything she can to see to it that it does happen. Jin Jin then asks if Ji Young was really close to Jin Joo. Ji Young then tells the story of how she was always berated and scolded and how Jin Joo was kind to her, which helped Ji Young get through the initial tough period of work. Jin Jin says that must be why Ji Young insisted on making her a singer. Ji Young says she is not that kind – she wants to make Jin Jin a singer because she sees her potential. She then leaves and Jin Jin goes back to cleaning enthusiastically.

Jin Jin goes to throw out garbage and is seen by Kang Suk. He asks her if she is there to sing or clean. Jin Jin then asks if he doesn’t think people who put their best effort into everything will succeed. She then says she is off to practice and bids him farewell. Kang Suk then receives a call from his father who reminds him that today is Jung Nan’s birthday and as a son, how could Kang Suk forget? Lee then tells Kang Suk to be there for Jung Nan since he has to go to Jeju and can’t.

At the nightclub, Tae Soon rushes over to Woo Hyun and apologizes for acting like she did the other night when she was drunk. Woo Hyun agreed that Tae Soon was a little crazy and tells her everything will be all right as long as she doesn’t do it again. He walks away after greeting Jugn Nan and Tae Soon says he just doesn’t understand her heart. Jung Nan smiles and says then Tae Soon should just make him understand and walks away as well. Tae Soon gives her a very dirty look behind her back. I guess she still sees Jung Nan as a threat.

Jin Jin is going to the club with flowers for Jin Joo when Yoon Seo pops out of a cab and greets her. Jin Jin asks if she is there to meet Dong Ah and Yoon Seo says that she is there to learn noodle making from Oh. Jin Jin teases her and pokes her waist, but Yoon Seo doesn’t really react at all. Jin Jin says she was just teasing and asks if she offended Yoon Seo who then confesses that she has never had a friend to tease and play with. This shocks Jin Jin – she can’t believe how different a world Yoon Seo lives in. Yoon Seo then confesses she envies Jin Jin and Dong Ah’s close friendship and she also says that Dong Ah is the nicest man in her eyes. Jin Jin says that the two must be dating for Yoon Seo to say that. Yoon Seo’s face falls and Jin Jin can’t believe they aren’t officially dating yet. Jin Jin then says that Dong Ah may be a loser, but he is a good man so Yoon Seo should do Jin Jin a favor and stay by him forever.

At the club, Eo Jin and Jin Joo are working on Eo Jin’s homework. Dong Ah and Dong Chul fight about the right way to spell “all right” when Yoon Seo arrives with Jin Jin. Dong Ah is not happy to see that Yoon Seo has come back. He then asks how to spell the word after he misspells it. Yoon Seo spells it correctly and is praised by Dong Chul. Jin Jin then chides Dong Ah for not knowing, but is silenced when asked if she knew how it was spelled then. Yoon Seo then tells Oh she is there and Oh is surprised to see her, thinking that Yoon Seo wasn’t going to show up anymore. Yoon Seo says she hasn’t learned how to make noodles yet, so she can’t leave. Jin Jin pokes Dong Ah and tells him to stop playing hard to get before heading into the club.

Jin Jin overhears Jung Nan talking to Kang Suk about her birthday. Jin Jin is surprised to hear it is Jung Nan’s birthday. Jung Nan says not to make a fuss and to come over to her place after work. Jin Jin asks if its to celebrate and Jung Nan says she wishes to give Jin Jin clothes that she no longer wears. This excites Jin Jin who sits down to tell her just what a kind person Kang Suk is being. Jung Nan is shocked to hear that Kang Suk is being nice to anyone, let alone Jin Jin. Jung Nan then says that Kang Suk is offended if he is referred to as only the second-coldest person in the world. Jin Jin says it must all be a front, because deep down he is really nice.

At the Yi house, Yoon Seo’s mother is upset that Yoon Seo is not home to meet Ji Suk like she is supposed to. Ji Suk smiles and says he knows she is avoiding him because Yoon Seo was told he was coming over. So why doesn’t he take the hint already and just leave the poor girl alone? I really don’t like this selfish arse of a man. Yi then says that Yoon Seo is just shy. Ji Suk takes his leave, upsetting Yi that he won’t wait any longer for Yoon Seo. And what is Yoon Seo doing? She is flubbing up making noodles. She overcooked them. Yoon Seo apologizes to Oh who says its no big deal and gives Dong Ah the noodles to eat. He refuses saying he is full. He then calls her out and says he will take her home. Yoon Seo doesn’t want to leave quite yet, but Dong Ah refuses to let her stay any longer and gets Dong Chul to man the door while he walks Yoon Seo home. Dong Chul runs off his mouth again and Dong Ah refrains from hitting him. This makes Dong Chul says that Dong Ah has really changed since meeting Yoon Seo.

On the way home, Yoon Seo asks if Dong Ah is angry. He says that he isn’t and asks why she would think that. Yoon Seo replies that he is not answering her calls. Dong Ah says he is sleeping. Yoon Seo knows he is lying and Dong Ah then asks her to stop coming as she should have seen enough of his world by now. For Yoon Seo it might be a festival she is enjoying for the time being, but it is his and his friends’ lives. Yoon Seo then says he definitely must be mad at her. Dong Ah again refutes that is not true. Yoon Seo says she started working a job and had something going on the other night, but Dong Ah cuts her off and says she doesn’t need to explain to a guy like him. Yoon Seo says she is saying it because she wants to. She then says she didn’t come the other night because she had an obligation, not because she didn’t want to. Yoon Seo asks if she can’t still come and Dong Ah replies with if he told her to stop, would she. Yoon Seo says that if he really wanted her to, she wouldn’t. Dong Ah then says to come until she finishes learning how to make noodles. Yoon Seo smiles and happily replies that it can take her a long time to learn how to do it, which means he’s stuck with her for now. They reach the Yi house and Dong Ah tells her to go on in. Yoon Seo says she knows she is just thinking of herself and knows that she is being selfish, but if he can only put on with it a little longer. Dong Ah doesn’t say anything to this declaration and just bids her good night. On his way home, Dong Ah says that when Yoon Seo stops coming, he will not wait for her and just continue on with his life.

Jin Jin, Jin Joo, and Jung Nan arrive at Jung Nan’s place and Jin Jin cannot believe what a nice place she has. Jin Jin says that she will make Jung Nan seaweed soup as soon as they get in, but Jung Nan says that she has none. Jin Jin then insists that she will sing happy birthday. Jung Nan smiles and says it is up to her. When they get inside, there is Kang Suk waiting with a cake for his mother. Jung Nan is shocked to see him there. He replies that he timed it so he would be there as she got off of work. Jung Nan asks why he is there and Jin Jin says how can he not be there when it is his mother’s birthday. Jung Nan says nothing to that and Jin Joo comes in and begins remarking at how beautiful everything is. Jung Nan then blows out the candles and Jin Jin asks where Kang Suk’s presents are and Jung Nan says she needs nothing from her son, it’s just enough that he actually remembered her birthday and brought a cake. Jin Jin then presents her own gift to Jung Nan who is greatly touched by it and shocked that Jin Jin had enough time to prepare a gift. Jung Nan thanks her for the pretty hairpiece and Jin Jin replies it isn’t the most elegant as it only cost 10,000 won. Jung Nan happily tells her that it is really nice. Jin Joo then drops her tea cup and Jin Jin immediately jumps in and keeps Jin Joo from hurting herself. Trying to clean up the glass, Jin Jin cuts her finger and Jung Nan rushes for the first aid kit. Jin Joo apologizes and goes to help, but Jin Jin again stops her. Kang Suk yells at her to stop and calls her an idiot for still trying to clean up the mess with her bare hands. Jin Joo says that Jin Jin isn’t an idiot, she’s an idiot, but Jin Jin insists that her elder sister isn’t. Jung Nan comes in just as Kang Suk brings out a dustpan and broom and begins sweeping up the mess. Jung Nan is shocked to see her son doing such a thing and Jin Jin apologizes for causing him so much trouble. Kang Suk says it’s all right since she knows she is giving him a hard time. Jung Nan then thanks Jin Jin for showing her scenes that she has never gotten to see before causing Kang Suk to sigh while Jin Jin gets her finger bandaged.

Jin Jin thanks Jung Nan for the beautiful clothes and Jung Nan requests that Kang Suk take the two girls home since they live in the same neighborhood. Without complaining, Kang Suk actually complies. In the car, Jin Jin tells her sister to lay down and sleep and Jin Joo asks her little sister for a song as she likes to hear her sing. This makes Jin Jin happy and she agrees to sing her a song while Kang Suk listens and sneaks peeks in the review mirror. Jin Jin just keeps getting under his skin in many different ways. Jin Jin tries to wake Jin Joo up, but Jin Joo doesn’t want too. Kang Suk then pops the trunk and helps Jin Jin get all of her new clothes out. He then asks why she doesn’t quit her job delivering newspapers as humans need sleep. Jin Jin says she knows and she manages to sleep here and there, so he doesn’t need to worry. Kang Suk then says that he will sue her for compensation if she collapses from exhaustion. Aww, what a sweet way to show you care :P . Jin Jin then calls him wicked and takes Jin Joo into the house while Kang Suk watches them go in with another big sigh.

Inside, Dong Ah is laying outside on the table instead of sleeping. Jin Jin asks why he isn’t sleeping yet and sends Jin Joo into bed so she can talk to Dong Ah. He asks if she got a lot of clothes and she says yes – high quality ones at that. Dong Ah says that mother and son are just alike, how can they afford such clothes when Kang Suk is only a lowly driver. Jin Jin goes to correct him, but bites her tongue instead. Not exactly sure why, but she keeps his real identity from Dong Ah. Jin Jin then starts poking him and says she asked Yoon Seo a favor. Dong Ah pops up and asks what she did. Jin Jin says she asked Yoon Seo to stay by him forever, which means, basically, marriage if Yoon Seo wants. Dong Ah immediately tells Jin Jin off for doing such a rash thing. Jin Jin says she did it for him so he shouldn’t yell. Dong Ah says she can’t do such nonsense and of course, the two start screaming and fighting. It’s been awhile. LOL. I love watching the two fight. They are so cute. The whole house wakes up and tries to separate the two with no luck. Oh then comes out and throws water on them asking why they have to do such things. Yoon Bae and Jong Bum say that it was too quiet and that it was bound to happen and then say the two are a match made in heaven. I think they are better off as friends. If they were lovers, they would probably kill each other. Jin Jin is back in her room and complains that Dong Ah should just say thanks. Meanwhile, Dong Chul tells Dong Ah in their room that he thinks if Yoon Seo wasn’t around, Jin Jin noona would be Dong Ah’s ideal partner. Dong Ah tells him to shut up ans sleep. He then grumbles that Jin Jin’s a wench who is no help to him.

The next day Kang Suk returns from his run and is happy to see that Jin Jin took his advice – until he walks in through the gate and sees the papers lying there. He picks them up and heads in. He is surprised to see Ji Suk up already and drinking coffee. Ji Suk then asks what Jung Nan said. Kang Suk says nothing and Ji Suk then says since Jung Nan is a woman who lives for love, what does she think of her son’s arranged marriage. Kang Suk doesn’t rise to the jibe and goes to wash up. Ji Suk can’t leave it alone and says the more his brother acts as he does, the more he doesn’t want to let Yoon Seo go to a guy like him. Oh, like Ji Suk is really any better? Kang Suk gives his brother a slight glare before silently entering the bathroom.

During breakfast at the Oh house, Jong Bum is excited to hear this woman owns department stores and Oh comments on him trying to live off a rich widow. Jong Bum states he isn’t a gigolo and Yoon Bae says he knows nothing of love. Jong Bum then lets it slip that Yoon Bae was once married and this shocks everyone. It seems like only Jong Bum knew. Jong Bum immediately knows he made a mistake and Yoon Bae angrily leaves the table after calling him a jerk. After Yoon Bae leaves, Oh asks if he really was married. Oh then asks if he is a widow and Jong Bum said it would be better if he was before leaving himself to apologize to Yoon Bae who ignores him. Dong Ah follows Yoon Bae outside and hears Yoon Bae’s story for himself. Yoon Bae tells the story of how he fell in love with a rich girl and ran away with her. They lived together for a year and a half, but the girl couldn’t handle it. Apparently love was not enough and the two began to grow apart so Yoon Bae let her go and realized that people from different classes just can’t live together. Dong Ah did not need to hear this story and come up with even more reasons not to be with his beloved Yoon Seo.

Yoon Seo finds a beautiful designer purse and wishes to give it as a gift. Meanwhile, Jin Jin is with the vocal coach who is criticizing her rhythm while singing “Indian Doll.” The teacher keeps stopping and complaining about her bad rhythmic sense. Jin Jin says she understands what he is saying, but that she just can’t seem to get it. He asks her how she will get along at auditions when she is like this and Jin Jin replies she has only been training for a few days to which the coach says that is nothing to be proud of and the two start again. Practice ends and Jin Jin begs him to go longer, but he refuses. Kang Suk sees the two and stops them. He asks for Jin Jin’s lessons to be extended by an extra half hour. The coach complains, but Kang Suk insists and the two go back into practice. The coach asks what the relationship is between the two and Jin Jin is horrified to learn that he thinks they are a couple. She vehemently insists that they have nothing between them and he asks her why she is getting so worked up when a simple no would have sufficed.

Ji Suk meets Jung for lunch and confesses that he knows Yoon Seo which surprises Jung, but not as much as Ji Suk’s next statement does. Ji Suk says they met on the plan home from the US and that he has feelings for Yoon Seo. Jung doesn’t quite know what to say and tries to explain about marrying Kang Suk to Yoon Seo, but Ji Suk says he knows this already. Jung asks why Ji suk is doing this when he knows about the arrangement. Ji Suk says the two barely know each other, so he should have a chance with Yoon Seo since he genuinely cares for her. Oh bugger, the man is doing everything he can.

Back at Double Sharp, Kang Suk leaves his office and overhears Jin Jin practicing. He looks into the practice room and notices her practicing all alone. He walks in and asks what she is doing alone. Jin Jin says she is practicing a song and Kang Suk says she has no night lessons scheduled. Jin Jin asks for the time and is surprised to find out it is already 8pm. She has a live show at the club to prepare for and needs to pick up flowers for Jin Joo as well. What will she do? Kang Suk then ends up driving her. She tells him to let her off at the station, but then Jin Jin’s stomach growls and he asks if she has eaten. Jin Jin, embarrassed, says that she forgot to eat. Kang Suk then takes her for dinner and says that if they eat fast, she can still make it in time. Jin Jin starts eating and then says that when she called him a jerk last time, she wants to apologize for that. Why? She realized that he isn’t all that bad. He tells her to just focus on eating, but he’s happy to hear that she doesn’t think he’s a jerk anymore.

Kang Suk drops her off and Jin Jin thanks him for his help. Dong Ah grabs her arm and asks if Kang Suk dropped her off and why? Jin Jin says it just happened that way and Jin Joo asks where the roses are. Jin Jin apologizes and tells Jin Joo to go home with Eo Jin before rushing into the club. Yoon Seo then shows up and apologizes for being late as well. Oh tells her it is okay as it is not a cooking academy. Yoon Seo then smiles at Dong Ah before going to work.

Kang Suk arrives home to see a worried Song pacing and to hear his father yelling at his brother. Why? Jung told Lee what Ji Suk pulled and Lee is bawling Ji Suk out for doing such a stupid thing to his brother. Ji Suk then says that Kang Suk doesn’t love Yoon Seo. Lee can’t believe his ears and Mrs. Song rushes in to find out just what is going on. Ji Suk asks why its okay for Kang Suk to be with Yoon Seo and not him as Kang Suk only see Yoon Seo for her dowry. Lee then hits Ji Suk who throws up his parents’ own failure of marriage (that was arranged as well) – definitely not a way to get into his father’s good graces. Ji Suk then asks if he wants Kang Suk to live the same life as him. Lee asks if Ji Suk understands what he has done and Ji Suk says he does and yells that he is doing everything in his power to get the woman he loves before storming out. He sees Kang Suk, who remains silent and says that he will surpass him. Kang Suk clenches his jaw and then goes out, driving like a mad man while Song confronts Ji Suk. Song is not happy to hear that Ji Suk did such a thing and Ji Suk is unhappy that his mom is not on his side.

At the club, Yoon Seo presents Jin Jin with the designer bag. Jin Jin is touched and can’t believe that such a thing is hers. Dong Ah says she didn’t have to do that and Yoon Seo replies that Jin Jin is her friend. Dong Chul says that he wants to be her friend, too and Yoon Seo promises to bring him something at a later date. Oh watches one, disbelieving that Yoon Seo is going as far as trying to get close to Dong Ah’s friends as well. Yoon Seo gets a call and then heads home to her unhappy father. Jung then asks if his daughter knows Ji Suk. Yi goes to respond and Jung is surprised to hear that Yi knows him as well. He then grills Yoon Seo about him. Yoon Seo admits to knowing who he is and Jung asks what relationship they have and if she knows he is Kang Suk’s brother. Yoon Seo says she knows all this and Jung says he heard something embarrassing from Ji Suk. Yoon Seo insists that she has no relationship with him and then says she doesn’t want to get married.

At Oh’s house, Dong Ah comes out and sees Jin Jin hugging her purse. He calls her crazy and Jin Jin says it is the first present she has received since getting a giant stuffed bear from her sister twenty years ago. Jin Jin then says she hopes he and Yoon Seo can be together for a long time. Dong Ah snaps, but Jin Jin says he can yell all he wants as she won’t fight him as a favor for Yoon Seo that night. Dong Ah then calls her and the rest of the house snobs because if you give them something they become drooling fools. Jin Jin asks if Dong Ah thinks it’s all because of the purse. Dong Ah says yes and Jin Jin says that Yoon Seo’s feelings must be real if she’s showing such attention to Jin Jin. Dong Ah doesn’t know what to say to this.

Back at the Lee household, Song goes to Lee and asks if they stop the wedding. Song will work on getting Ji Suk to give up on Yoon Seo, so Lee should do the same with Kang Suk. Lee says nothing. Kang Suk arrives home and looks unhappily at the house. Instead of going inside, he stays and sleeps in his car. Jin Jin, delivering papers, is surprised to see him sleeping in his car. She knocks on his window and asks if he slept in the car and if he had been drinking. Kang Suk ignores her and turns to go in, but stops when Jin Jin says that life is hard for everyone. He turns around and looks at her while she continues. She doesn’t know why, but Kang Suk always looks like he is carrying the world’s misery, but he still has his mother and is rich. Jin Jin turns to leave and Kang Suk angrily grabs her arm. He then demands to know what Jin Jin knows.

End episode.

Episode 11 synopsis/recap/summary

Episode summary: Picking up where we left off in episode 10, Jin Jin cannot believe that Kang Suk is asking her to join Double Sharp. She asks why he’s doing that if he scoffed and mocked her earlier. Kang Suk says that it is from Ji Young’s insistence and staking her life on making Jin Jin a singer that he is giving Jin Jin a chance. Jin Jin does not like this because it means Kang Suk doesn’t believe she has the potential still and is just using her as a business gamble. Kang Suk asks so what and Jin Jin tells him not to pity her. Even without his help she will become a singer and show him her true potential. She then storms out of the cafe with an annoyed Kang Suk on her heels.

Suh Ji Suk, Bae Doo NaKang Suk grabs Jin Jin’s arm and stops her retreat. He turns her around and asks what if that isn’t all. Kang Suk was there the first time Jin Jin took stage and gave her horrible lip-sync performance. At first he thought she was pitiful, but when she found her voice and started singing, even though it wasn’t the best, Kang Suk could not take his eyes off of her. He didn’t understand why he couldn’t and then Ji Young explained that was Jin Jin’s strength. Jin Jin asks what Kang Suk means by that and he explains Ji Young’s theory about people being drawn in by Jin Jin and hoping that she will succeed. That is the most important gift as it makes the people want to sing along with you. Since Jin Jin possesses that gift, Kang Suk wishes to help her.

Lee Chun Hee, Bae Doo NaJin Jin goes to the club in a daze and Oh asks if the charming young man managed to find her at the car wash. Jin Jin says nothing and Dong Chul cannot believe what he is hearing. First a beautiful noona is going out with Dong Ah and now a charming man is looking for Jin Jin. Dong Ah asks if Jin Jin is now dating and Jin Jin ignores the questions and tells Oh to give the flowers to Jin Joo when she arrives and heads into the club followed by the pestering Dong Ah. After they go down, Dong Chul asks Oh about the man. Oh says that she remembers seeing him at the club before and Dong Chul then decides that it must be a regular who fell for Jin Jin after hearing her sing.

Lee Chun Hee, Bae Doo NaMeanwhile, inside the club Dong Ah keeps pestering Jin Jin to tell him about the guy who is looking for her. Is she really dating someone? Jin Jin finally stops and asks Dong Ah why he needs to know and Dong Ah explains that he is worried a customer might think she is easy just because she is a singer. Why else would a sane man want the unsexy Jin Jin? What a friend. Jin Jin then says the man is interested in making her a singer, hoping this will get Dong Ah off of her back, instead Dong Ah says that is proof the man’s intentions aren’t honorable. Dong Ah thinks that Kang Suk must be trying to seduce Jin Jin and must already be married. This angers Jin Jin and she asks if Dong Ah is really her friend. Dong Ah replies that he is saying all of this because he is her friend. Enter Woo Hyun who tells Dong Ah to go back to work prepping for the opening.

Lee Young Ha, Na Young HeeWoo Hyun then catches sight of Jung Nan entering the club for work and immediately starts scolding her for not showing up the previous night like she was supposed to. Jung Nan apologizes and goes to Woo Hyun’s office where he tells her to just quit if she plans on doing that again. Jung Nan says that she will never blow off a performance without calling ahead first. Woo Hyun asks if Lee is pressuring Jung Nan to quit and Jung Nan says that isn’t it, but refuses to say why she didn’t show up when she was supposed to. Woo Hyun asks what the problem is and Jung Nan says he doesn’t need to know. This hurts Woo Hyun who then says he guesses that he has no right to know about Jung Nan’s life and problems. This makes Jung Nan feel bad as that’s not the reason why. She just doesn’t feel like talking about her problems with Kang Suk’s impending marriage. Woo Hyun then says if that’s the case, Jung Nan can leave his office. He’s still a little hurt it seems.

Bae Doo NaBack in the dressing room, Jin Jin is staring at her reflection completely spaced out. Jung Nan asks why she is like that and Jin Jin jumps up and immediately mentions her son. Jung Nan asks what about Kang Suk and Jin Jin replies that he wants to make her into a singer. Jung Nan asks so what and Jin Jin then says he is offering a contract. Jung Nan then tells her that Jin Jin has no reason not to accept the offer. Jin Jin then says that Kang Suk is someone who treated her like a roach and then makes such an offer. She trails off and Jung Nan says it must have felt strange (the sudden 180). Jung Nan asks if Jin Jin rejected the contract and asked why Kang Suk did what he did and Jin Jin says that she didn’t. Then she agreed? Jin Jin says she didn’t agree either. The flustered Jung Nan asked what she did if she didn’t say yes or no. Jin Jin didn’t do anything because she wasn’t quite sure what to do. Jung Nan then tells her that there comes a time in life when you grab a rotted rope to see where it may lead. Anyways, Kang Suk is her son so he probably recognized Jin Jin’s talent just like Jung Nan did. This quiets Jin Jing.

So Yi Hyun, Lee Chun HeeAt Yi’s house, Yi is upset that Yoon Seo slipped out again. She is back at the club and ignores her mother’s phone call. Yoon Seo then asks Oh if she can learn how to cook noodles as she is thinking about opening a restaurant in the future. Oh is shocked by this and Dong Ah tries to stop Yoon Seo, but she plows on ahead. Oh says she is not a qualified teacher and tells Yoon Seo to go to a cooking academy, but Yoon Seo is adamant in learning from Oh who keeps protesting. Yoon Seo then offers to run errands until Oh lets her try cooking. This annoys Eo Jin who does odd jobs for Oh to earn money. Yoon Seo assures him that she won’t take a penny from Oh – she just wants to learn. As Oh is about to cave in, Dong Ah pulls Yoon Seo aside to talk.

So Yi Hyun, Lee Chun HeeDong Ah asks what Yoon Seo is doing and she replies that she already asked how he would feel if she started working at Oh’s cart. Dong Ah said he thought that she was only joking so why is she really trying to work at Oh’s cart. Yoon Seo asks if its not allowed and Dong Ah says that it’s something a person like her shouldn’t do. Yoon Seo’s rebuttal: “What sort of person am I?” Dong Ah says she is the daughter of a rich family and she has even studied. Yoon Seo breaks into his listing and says that there is nothing she really knows how to do so she would love to learn how to make noodles from Oh. Dong Ah doesn’t quite believe this and Yoon Seo asks if he saw through her excuse. Yoon Seo really enjoys being around Dong Ah and his friends so she would like to be around them even more. That is why she is intent on learning how to make noodles from oh. Dong Ah asks how long she will want to be around them and Yoon Seo looks a little crestfallen and Dong Ah looks a little teary-eyed. He then says if there is something she wants to do, then she should do it and then he walks away.

So Yi Hyun, Jung So NyuYoon Seo goes home to find Ji Suk outside her house. He’s the worst kind of stalker now as he has her mother’s permission. What a bunch of messed up families. He says that it is hard just to get a glimpse of her these days. He then says he would like to ask just one thing: “Why not him?” If Yoon Seo is planning on marrying on command without love, why is Kang Suk better than Ji Suk who claims to have some affection for her? Yoon Seo then says it does matter and Ji Suk asks why. Yoon Seo replies that she at least feels sympathy for Kang Suk whereas she has no such feelings for him. Yoon Seo then goes into the house where she is immediately greeted by an angry Yi demanding to know where Yoon Seo was. Yoon Seo says she was out with friends, but Yi doesn’t believe she has any and says it must have been Kang Suk. Yoon Seo then says she was with him and Yi gets mad and says she has already told Yoon Seo to stop seeing him already. Yoon Seo doesn’t rise to this and goes to go upstairs. Yi calls up the stairs and tells Yoon Seo to not forget that Yoon Seo’s life belongs to Yi and Yi alone, not Yoon Seo.

Lee Jong Won, Suh Ji SukAfter his rejection, Ji Suk goes out drinking where he recalls Yoon Seo’s parting words about not having any feelings whatsoever towards him. This depresses and angers Ji Suk and he throws stuff off of the bar. At home, Song scolds Ji Suk for drinking into a stupor again. Kang Suk goes to help him, but Ji Suk goes to hit him and tells him to stop pretending. Lee yells at his eldest and Ji Suk turns to his father and asks if Lee ever put him and Kang Suk on the same scale. Lee demands to know what Ji Suk means and Ji Suk replies that he believes his father deems him unworthy to be on the same scale as Kang Suk. Song then starts hitting him and asks why he is behaving that way towards his father. She then sends the two housekeepers out causing Ji Suk to laugh that his mother is still worried about the opinions of the maids. Ji Suk then says that he knows Lee prefers Kang Suk and starts babbling about what would happen if he took something that belonged to his brother or that was never his to begin with. Lee tells Kang Suk to help his brother to his room and then turns to leave and Ji Suk yells after him that he has never been on his side. Song then hits Ji Suk and says that he is hurting her with his behavior. He doesn’t care.

The two brothers go upstairs and as Kang Suk is about to go into his room, Ji Suk stops him and asks if he thinks that he is a big joke. Kang Suk turns to look at his older brother who continues by saying that Kang Suk must find it ridiculous that Ji Suk is fighting a fight that will not happen. Kang Suk says nothing and just stares at his hyung. Ji Suk then says he still has a desire to fight, so what can he do?

Bae Doo Na, Oh Hyun Kyung, Kim Young OkAt Jin Jin’s, Jin Joo has a seizure. Jin Jin is yelling and hugging her sister tightly to her when Oh comes running in to help. She asks about Jin Joo’s medication and Jin Jin replies that it is too dangerous for Jin Joo to try and swallow it right now. Jin Jin does her best to calm her shaking sister down and rocks her while saying the tremors will pass. When Jin Joo calms down, Oh and Jin Jin get her to take her medicine and Jin Jin lies her back down to sleep while Oh complains about how hard a life the two girls have (the attacks are occurring more frequently). Oh then says that Jin Joo seems more like Jin Jin’s child versus her sister. Jin Jin then tells Oh she must become a singer because she does not want to leave her sister the way she is. Oh nods and pats the crying Jin Jin’s back.

Bae Doo Na, Lee Chun HeeThe next morning there is the usual bicker in the Oh household. Yoon Bae and Jong Bum complain about food, Tae Soon asks for more freebies, Mi Na tries to feed Dong Ah, and Eo Jin has started back to school again. Jin Jin gets a call and Dong Chul thinks it means that she is dating as well, but it is just Ji Young asking her to come in and sign the contract. When Jin Jin announces this, everyone is shocked and happy for Jin Jin. Yoon Bae and Jong Bum tell her she cannot go without them as they are afraid the company will try to swindle her and won’t let her leave without them. Jin Jin refuses their help, but they insist as does Dong Ah who thinks he’d be more of a help than the two ahjussis.

Kim Byung Choon, Lee Sung Min, Bae Doo Na, Suh Ji Suk, Park Hyun SookAt the bus stop, Jin Jin successfully manages to block Dong Ah’s entrance to the bus, leaving her only with Jong Bum and Yoon Bae. This ticks Dong Ah off as he thought he would definitely be better than the other two. Ji Young is shocked to see the two men accompany Jin Jin. She asks who they are and Jong Bum says he is Jin Jin’s manager and Yoon Bae introduces himself as her vocal coach. Jin Jin explains that they live with her and wanted to come see the place. Ji Young says there is nothing to see as they are just signing a contract and then Kang Suk arrives. Jong Bum recognizes him right away and congratulates Kang Suk at becoming successful coming from such a challenging background. This makes poor Jin Jin upset. Kang Suk finally gets him to shut up and they go to sign the contract. The two ahjussis look at the contract in great detail while Jin Jin just anxiously waits to sign it. Jin Jin doesn’t care if there is anything unfair or not, she just wants to do her best to become a singer and support her sister. The two men pretend to act like they know what they are doing, but Ji Young and Kang Suk won’t budge. Kang Suk, annoyed with the badgering men, stands up and says he will live since it doesn’t seem like they came their to sign and Jin Jin quickly picks up a pen and asks where she needs to sign.

After the signing, Jin Jin walks out in a daze with an envelope full of money. The two men congratulate themselves on successful negotiations and Jin Jin replies that it didn’t go any better thanks to them as they signed on the company’s terms. Yoon Bae then says that if it wasn’t for them, she wouldn’t have gotten the bonus in cash. If they hadn’t insisted on that she might have gotten a promissory note that ended up being no good. Yoon Bae asks what she plans on doing with the money. They want beef ribs and a big celebration, but Jin Jin says she has plans and walks off. The men then ask if they can at least get pork belly.

Bae Doo Na, Oh Hyun Kyung, Chun Bo GeunBack at the house, Jin Jin gives her entire signing bonus to Dong Chul as a deposit on his room. Dong Chul is surprised and touched that she is giving him the room deposit. Mi Na asked if Jin Jin really signed the contract and the two men ask why the people don’t believe it. Mi Na replies with a question: just what is it about Jin Jin that the company likes? Jin Jin says that they saw an inner strength that attracts people to Jin Jin and that’s why they decided to sign her as a singer. Mi Na then says she is stronger at attracting people with her dancing versus Jin Jin’s singing and Dong Chul says that isn’t something to be proud of. Dong Ah then asks for money from Dong Chul since he is living for free in Dong Ah’s room. Dong Chul refuses as he did not move in willingly and the two fight for the money. While they bicker, Jin Joo asks Jin Jin if she is really going to become a singer and Jin Jin replies that she is. Jin Joo then happily says that she will get her diamond ring then. Jin Jin says when she gets to be a famous singer, she will by her sister a big, sparkly diamond.

Lee Chun Hee, Bae Doo NaAt Oh’s food car, Yoon Seo has arrived early and is waiting to learn how to make noodles. The gang is shocked to see Yoon Seo there so early. Yoon Seo says that a student must show effort and Oh comments that she must be really eager to learn. Dong Chul then says it has nothing to do with wanting to make noodles, but rather wanting to see Dong Ah. This embarrasses Yoon Seo and Dong Ah tells Dong Chul to quit it. Then Jin Jin taps Dong Ah’s arm and gets closer to him saying she feels the same way Dong Chul does about why Yoon Seo is learning from Oh. Jin Jin then tells him to be on his best behavior and to get into Yoon Seo’s heart. Dong Ah says nothing and watches Yoon Seo help Oh setup the cart.

Lee Young Ha, Na Young Hee, Bae Doo NaInside the club, Jung Nan receives her first paycheck from Woo Hyun. She is happy to be earning her own money again. Jin Jin knocks on the door and comes in. Jung Nan says that she just got paid and asks what Jin Jin would like for a treat. Jin Jin then announces that she signed with an entertainment company. Jung Nan is immediately happy for Jin Jin and congratulates her while Woo Hyun seems a bit surprised. Jin Jin says that it is thanks to the both of them. She tells them about the signing bonus and what she did with it, but when she starts earning money, she will definitely be treating them. Woo Hyun then tells Jin Jin to tell everyone to stay after for a celebration party for Jin Jin’s success. This really touches Jin Jin and she goes out to spread the word.

Na Young Hee, Lee Young Ha, Oh Hyun Kyung, Choi Jae Hwan, Bae Doo NaJin Jin seems even more alive on stage than ever now that she is on her way to becoming an official singer. Jung Nan and Woo Hyun watch her performance happily from the audience as does Dong Chul and Dong Ah. Jung Nan says that she is a tough cookie and Woo Hyun agrees. Jung Nan is shocked that Jin Jin didn’t give up on life and has made it as far as she has today. Woo Hyun says if it wasn’t for Jin Joo, then Jin Jin probably would have given up. Dong Ah and Dong Chul also comment on how surprising it is that Jin Jin’s dream is coming true, but they are both happy for their good friend. You can tell Dong Ah is happy that Jin Jin’s dream is coming true despite him being against it at first.

Chun Bo Geun, Kim Young Ok, So Yi HyunOutside Yoon Seo ignores a call from her mother and Oh questions why she doesn’t take the call. Yoon Seo says its not a call she needs to and Oh asks if she is seeing another man. This surprises Yoon Seo, but she laughs it off and says that isn’t it (though it technically is as she plans on marrying Kang Suk and sees him on occasion). Oh tells Yoon Seo that old people shouldn’t meddle in young people’s business, but she feels Dong Ah is like her real grandson. Dong Ah may not feel that way, but Oh does. Yoon Seo agrees and Oh asks if she knows what his best point is. Oh then says it is Dong Ah’s abilities to take punches. Because he can take punches he has managed to survive so far, but he won’t be able to take one from Yoon Seo. Oh says Yoon Seo probably doesn’t understand what she is talking about, but just try to remember her words. This makes Yoon Seo feel bad. She then gets a text from her mom telling her to hurry home because Jung is there.

Jung So Nyu, So Yi HyunYoon Seo hurries home and Jung complains about his daughter taking such a long walk. Yi covers and says that since Yoon Seo hasn’t quite regained all the strength in her legs back, she taken to taking long walks now. Jung brings up Kang Suk and Yi begins to immediately protest. Jung tells her to be quiet and tells Yoon Seo that Kang Suk would rather wait to marry until the can stabilize the company he’s currently at. Jung finds this admirable and the mark of a true man. He then asks how Yoon Seo feels about working. Yi immediately interrupts by asking what can Yoon Seo possibly know how to do and Jung replies that there is something he would like Yoon Seo to try out.

Lee Jong Won, Sung Byung SookAt the Lee household, Lee asks if Ji Suk has something to say to him. He then scolds his son about only voicing his true feelings when he is drunk. Ji Suk apologizes and says it was just the alcohol talking and nothing more. Lee asks just what is wrong that Ji Suk is unhappy about and Ji Suk replies that he cannot tell him yet. Lee asks if it is work related and Ji Suk says it isn’t about work. This mystifies Lee who wonders just what it is about. Ji Suk says he will tell him later and leaves only to be called out by his mother. Song immediately berates Ji Suk for his current bad behavior and asks what he intends to do if he keeps losing points in front of his father. Ji Suk says it’s funny for a score to be kept between parent and child. Song says that is his reality. Song then pushes him to meet Minister Park’s daughter, but Ji Suk doesn’t want to end up in another loveless marriage like his parents’, besides he has a girl in mind. Song asks who, but Ji Suk still won’t say.

Back at the club, Dong Ah looks for Yoon Seo who is nowhere to be found. Oh says she had to go home and asks if Dong Ah is disappointed that Yoon Seo left without saying goodbye. Dong Ah asks what is there to be disappointed about and Oh warns him not to fall too deeply. Oh then tells Jin Joo to take Eo Jin home and Dong Ah puts Eo Jin on her back. Oh then says she doesn’t feel Yoon Seo is destined to be Dong Ah’s other half. Dong Ah says he has never thought that as he is not a fool.

The celebration begins for Jin Jin’s success as soon as the club closes for the night. Jung Nan makes the toast, but a drunk Tae Soon begins to scold Jung Nan for talking informally to Woo Hyun. Jung Nan says they are friends so they can talk informally, but Tae Soon insists that Jung Nan can’t talk informally in front of the staff. Tae Soon then bares her feelings for the president, putting a damper on the party mood. Poor Woo Hyun is shocked by Tae Soon’s actions and becomes very uncomfortable until she finally passes out (after only two beers).

Lee Chun Hee, So Yi HyunBack at Oh’s Tae Soon is still crying drunkenly and the others continue their celebration annoying Oh. Dong Ah goes back to his room where he gets a text from Yoon Seo apologizing. He texts that it is okay, but still finds trouble sleeping that night and ends up walking to Yoon Seo’s (it,s become a habit). She sees him and rushes out to meet him. He says he came to tell her that if she has trouble sleeping she should count sheep as that is what his nephew Eo Jin does. Yoon Seo asks if he came all that way just to tell her that and Dong Ah said yes because it was too long to send as a text and he has never sent a text in his life. Yoon Seo thanks him and he awkwardly leaves. Yoon Seo then says that no one has ever treated her as nicely as he has. Dong Ah immediately replies that he is a bad guy, but Yoon Seo says that he is a nice guy.

Bae Doo Na, Lee Chun HeeJin Jin is practicing alone on a bridge when Dong Ah comes back from visiting Yoon Seo. Dong Ah tells Jin Jin that her late night exercising is getting to be a habit. Jin Jin says that she couldn’t sleep and Dong Ah comments about people not sleeping seems to be becoming a habit. Jin Jin asks who else is unable to sleep and Dong Ah tries to shrug it off, but Jin Jin figures out that Yoon Seo is the one who couldn’t sleep. Jin Jin then teases Dong Ah about really liking Yoon Seo. Dong Ah then asks if Jin Jin knows about festivals totally confusing Jin Jin. Here we learn that Dong Ah is wondering when Yoon Seo’s festival is going to end as no festival can last forever. Jin Jin doesn’t get what he is saying, but he changes the subject and asks if she feels good about finally getting to become a singer. Jin Jin nods and smiles and says that her heart is pounding too much to sleep. Even though she has made such bold statements about becoming a singer, she wonders if she can really become one, but when she thinks about becoming one she’s so happy she feels she’s going crazy. Dong Ah tells her to continue practicing and Jin Jin says when she releases her first album, she’ll give Dong Ah a signed copy before anybody else since he is her best friend. As he walks away, he asks himself why he can’t sleep when he never even dreamed before.

Z:EA members cameo in GloriaThe next day Jin Jin officially begins her training and is introduced to some of the other trainees (Z:EA members making a cameo as trainees :P ). The kids seem less than thrilled to meet Jin Jin. Ji Young tells them to stop giving the newcomer attitude and to get along. Ji Young tells Jin Jin that the vocal coach and choreographer will divide their time amongst them and Jin Jin asserts she will do her best. Ji Young tells them to work on vocal exercises until the coach arrives and leaves. Jin Jin is really friendly towards the kids but they complain about ahjummas trying to become singers these days. Jin Jin states that she is not an ahjumma as she has never been married. Another trainee says that they started with the cleaning when they first got into the company so that is what Jin Jin must also do. Jin Jin then happily begins cleaning.

Bae Doo Na, Suh Ji SukWhen she goes to throw out trash she notices gum on the floor and begins trying to scrap it up with the dustpan. Kang Suk comes by at that moment and wonders just what she is doing. She happily greets him and says that she is cleaning. Her attitude shocks him and he asks since when does she talk to him formally. Jin Jin replies that he is the president of the company she is working for, so she must speak formally to him. Kang Suk then says he contracted her to be a singer not a cleaner. Jin Jin explains that she was told everyone starts out with cleaning at first. Kang Suk asks who said so and Jin Jin said the kids she is practicing with. Kang Suk then says there is no reason for her to clean the hallways and goes to leave. Jin Jin stops him and formally greets him. As he walks away she determines that he really isn’t a bad person because he is ahjumma’s son.

Bae Doo NaJin Jin goes in for vocal training and you can tell the coach is less than impressed with her abilities and the trainees find her lack of skills amusing. The coach asks if she can read music and Jin Jin says that she can’t and then the coach asks about various musical knowledge and Jin Jin doesn’t know as well. The coach asks how she can be there and yet know nothing. Jin Jin says she doesn’t know why she was picked but she will try her hardest. The vocal coach is less than enthused since she doesn’t have the basic skills, but she keeps repeating that she will do her best (even with the kids laughing at her).

So Yi Hyun, Suh Ji SukJin Jin then rushes to the club with flowers for Jin Joo. Dong Ah asks how the first day of practice went and if she learned a lot. Jin Jin happily says that she was told she didn’t know the basics and was almost scolded to death. Dong Chul is shocked that she is saying things and laughing and Jin Jin asks after Yoon Seo. Where is she? Yoon Seo is at a designer store learning the ropes. Jung wants her to manage the store while waiting for Kang Suk and to have something to do after marriage as well. Yi complains because she had wanted that position and makes a snide remark to her daughter. Kang Suk then arrives and the four sit down to a meal (Yi is less than thrilled of course). When she finds time, Yoon Seo sneaks away to call Dong Ah and apologize for not being able to come. She hurriedly cuts the conversation short when Kang Suk comes out to use the restroom.

At home, Jin Jin is studying when her sleeping sister begins repeating what she usually says at work about buying roses. Jin Jin puts aside her paper and pats her sister’s head saying it is a relief that she hasn’t been too sick. Jin Jin tells her to wait until she makes it big, then she will buy Jin Joo a diamond ring and take her to the hospital. Yoon Seo texts Dong Ah, but he ignores it and tries counting sheep instead.

Suh Ji Suk, Bae Doo NaThe next morning, Jin Jin meets Kang Suk when delivering papers and she warmly greets him and says he is exercising diligently. Kang Suk says it sounds like Jin Jin is teasing him, but she adamantly denies that. He smiles and looks back at Jin Jin as she bows and turns to leave his smile disappears. He grabs her and tells her she has a nose bleed. This surprises Jin Jin. She wipes her nose and laughs saying it is nothing. Kang Suk then asks if she’s even sleeping and then says that she is his asset and doesn’t belong to herself anymore. End episode.

Episode 8 synopsis/recap/summary

Episode summary: At lunch, Ji Suk laughs off his comment about Yoon Seo considering him instead of Kang Suk (but we all know that he really meant it). This shocks Yoon Seo and surprises Kang Suk. Ji Suk apologizes and rephrases what he originally said by asking if Yoon Seo can love a jerk like his little brother. Yoon Seo says nothing and Ji Suk takes that as a no, but then she speaks up and says that Ji Suk must really love his brother to be so curious. This throws Ji Suk for a loop as she successfully managed to turn the tables on him.

After lunch, Kang Suk apologizes to Yoon Seo for his brother’s behavior and she replies that his family seems to be quite different from hers. Yoon Seo says that her brothers don’t think of her as a person. Kang Suk then replies that he is not sure if his brother is any different from hers. He offers her a ride home, but she says she has other places to go and leaves.

Bae Doo NaAt the recording studio, Ji Young pleads with the owner to take on some of the kids she will have to let go, but he refuses saying they have no room. Meanwhile, Yoon Bae is trying to tell Jin Jin about how the recording equipment works when the manager and Ji Young come in. The recording starts and Ji Young stays to try to convince the manager and ends up getting entranced by Jin Jin’s singing. This surprises Ji Young because Jin Jin is neither pretty nor particularly good at singing, but she can’t seem to take her eyes off of her and loves to listen to her sing. After the recording, Ji Young approaches Jin Jin and gives her a business card and tells Jin Jin to call her if she’s interested. This surprises Jin Jin who has no idea what the card means. Yoon Bae takes it and says that it is an agency, which excites Jin Jin. As Ji Young heads to her car she can’t believe she asked Jin Jin to audition when they are letting people go right now.

Bae Doo Na, Kim Byung ChoonJin Jin is excited about being scouted and asks if her voice is that good. Yoon Bae immediately replies that isn’t the reason and then explains to Jin Jin that the company is no longer doing all that well, although they were quite successful in the past. That means that Double Sharp is looking for a sideline. Jin Jin asks what that means and Yoon Bae replies they are looking for wannabes who will pay for training and the like. Jin Jin replies that it must be real scouting as she obviously doesn’t look like someone who could afford something like that. Yoon Bae says it is still a waste of time, but Jin Jin decides to see for herself.

Bae Doo Na, Suh Ji SukYoon Seo is out walking and comes across street musicians. She stands and listens and thinks about her time with Dong Ah. Meanwhile, Jin Jin is working at the car wash. Her boss is back and feeling much better. Kang Suk pulls in and Jin Jin tells the boss that he is the one with the credit card issue. When Kang Suk enters, the boss immediately apologizes, saying there is nothing Jin Jin can do right, which obviously annoys Jin Jin. The boss canceled the first transaction and then charged the correct amount. Kang Suk takes both receipts and goes to leave, but Jin Jin follows him. She says that he heard he is getting married and asks why he won’t let Jung Nan meet his bride. He asks what it has to do with her and she says he talks like a jerk. Jin Jin then says that Jung Nan drank a lot again because she knows Kang Suk is ashamed of her

Bae Doo NaKang Suk says nothing and goes to get in his car, but Jin Jin slams the door shut and asks why he is acting like that. Kang Suk the asks her why she is meddling like she is. Jin Jin then says that Jung Nan didn’t choose to live the way she does and that Kang Suk needs to stop acting like a little kid. Kang Suk asks if she knows she’s a smart aleck and Jin Jin asks why he can’t just introduce Yoon Seo to Jung Nan once. Kang Suk tells her to move, but Jin Jin won’t give up the topic. Fed up, Kang Suk tells her to stop meddling in others lives and Jin Jin says she can’t as Jung Nan is a teacher to her and she doesn’t like seeing her hurt. Kang Suk then warns her away from the matter as he has no time for people like her. Wow. He definitely said the wrong thing this time. Jin Jin especially hates hearing “people like you.” Jin Jin asks what that means and Kang Suk says a person who doesn’t like her own life so she meddles in others pretending to be their friend – basically she’s a loser. Kang Suk then gets in his car and goes to drive off. Jin Jin yells that at least she is not like him and then hurts her foot by kicking his car as he backs off. She shouts after him that she will teach him a lesson someday.

Oh Hyun KyungJin Joo is out with Eo Jin and stops when she sees a pretty diamond ring in the window. Eo Jin tries to get her to move, but Jin Joo refuses and Jin Jin walks up with flowers asking what’s going on. Eo Jin replies that Jin Joo is acting up again and Jin Jin asks her unnie if the rings are new. Jin Joo says yes and that they are so pretty and sparkly. Jin Jin says they are beautiful and asks her unnie if she wants one. Jin Joo nods and Eo Jin scolds her for asking such a thing since diamonds are expensive. Jin Jin then tells Jin Joo that she will definitely buy her that ring. Eo Jin again scolds Jin Jin for making a promise like that. Jin Jin says she has never broken a promise before and she will do her best to buy that ring for her sister. Jin Jin gives the flowers to Jin Joo and they go off to the club.

At the club, Tae Soon and Mi Na are getting hit on by drunk customers. Mi Na and Tae Soon keep politely refusing, but the customers don’t listen. They begin to get loud and unruly, bringing Dong Ah and Dong Chul over. Dong Ah tries to get the man to stop, but he refuses. Dong Chul then tries to explain that it isn’t a hostess bar, so they can’t behave like that. The man shoves Dong Chul and Dong Ah loses his barely held temper. Dong Ah grabs the man and tells him to stop. The man slaps him and Dong Ah says he must be rich and tells him to keep hitting him then. He headbutts the man and the man gets back up and tries to fight Dong Ah who gets annoyed and pushes him. The customer flies over the table and immediately begins complaining about a back problem.

Of course this lands Dong Ah, Mi Na, and the customer all at the police station. Mi Na is crying and hiccuping, trying to explain that it wasn’t Dong Ah’s fault, while Dong Ah just asks to be locked up. Then in runs Dong Chul, Jin Joo, Jin Jin and Woo Hyun. Woo Hyun immediately goes over to the customer and asks if he is badly hurt, the man replies that his back is out and Jin Jin starts hitting Dong Ah for causing trouble yet again. Dong Ah tells the president not to apologize, he’ll willingly spend the time in jail. Woo Hyun tels him to be quiet and Dong Ah slams his fist down on the table. Woo Hyun then asks if the customer should seem treatment and Dong Ah replies he’s obviously faking. Woo Hyun tells him to shut up again and Jin Jin starts hitting him again. Jin Joo tries to stop her and Dong Ah finally yells at them all to leave and Woo Hyun raises his voice and tells him to shut up again. Wow, Woo Hyun actually yelled. Then in comes the customer’s wife. The woman is furious and begins beating and yelling at her husband. Mi Na goes over and explains how he was touching her all over. The customer finally gets up and runs out proving his back was just fine. Thus, Dong Ah is free to go without getting charged or locked up.

While the others go home and debate whether or not Dong Ah will get fired, he is out drinking with Woo Hyun. Dong Ah tells him he wants to live quietly, but that people are not letting him. Woo Hyun says he wishes to live quietly too, so he hates it when things like this happen to disrupt his business. Dong Ah replies that he knows this and Woo Hyun asks if he knows why he allows Dong Ah to work there. Dong Ah says because he’s cheap and Woo Hyun laughs and pours him a drink. Woo Hyun says he likes genuine people and Dong Ah is the most genuine he’s met, however, he is not sure how long he’ll be able to keep Dong Ah if he continues to act like he does. Woo Hyun pours him another drink and tells him that life is short and he can’t just keep doing what he’s doing.

Yoon Seo waits outside for Dong Ah, but its just a drunk Ji Suk who comes. He grabs her and she tells him to let go as she is the woman who will marry his brother. Ji Suk lets her go and asks if she really plans to marry Kang Suk. Yoon Seo says that she will marry him. Ji Suk then explains that Kang Suk is not the type who will love her – can she accept that still. Yoon Seo says she can because she is just like he is. Yoon Seo then asks him to stop coming and being rude. Ji Suk then says that Kang Suk only wants to marry into the Jung family. Yoon Seo doesn’t care and this upsets Ji Suk to know that she will accept a contract marriage. He was hoping she was different. Ji Suk then says that if she’s willing to do a contract marriage with Kang Suk, then she should do it with him instead because he’s the better choice. Yoon Seo says nothing to this and walks into the house while Ji Suk angrily slams his fist against the gate.

Dong Ah is walking and finds himself walking across the street that separates him from Yoon Seo. He stops in the middle of the intersection and tells himself to be strong and not go over. The light changes to red and cars go around him honking. He turns around and begins walking back. Dong Ah does not look around or even care that he almost gets hit. It’s amazing that he made it across without bodily harm.

Back at the house, Eo Jin and Jin Joo are sleeping while Jin Jin remains awake. Jin Joo talks about how Jin Jin doesn’t lie and keeps her promises while Eo Jin calls Jin Jin noona mean for making such an impossible promise. Jin Jin laughs at their sleep conversation and stares at Ji Young’s business card. She hears Dong Ah enter and immediately opens the door. Dong Ah asks if Eo Jin is sleeping over and Jin Jin asks if he was fired. Dong Ah says that Jin Jin wishes he was. She asks again whether or not he is fired. Dong Ah says that he was not fired because there is no one to replace him and Jin Jin says it’s because he’s cheap. Dong Ah then asks her about the other neighborhood. Jin Jin asks him what about it and he says that if they were born again, wouldn’t she much rather be born in that neighborhood. Jin Jin tells him that is nonsense and he agrees. He tells her to let Eo Jin continue sleeping there and goes off to his room. Jin Jin closes the door and goes over to pat Eo Jin’s head, happy that he never talks nonsense like his uncle. She looks at the business card again and you can tell just how conflicted she is.

The next morning Jin Jin is out delivering papers. She gives both the sports and daily news to the Lee household. She angrily recalls Kang Suk’s words from the day before and shakes her fist at the house. She says she is not pretending to be caring – she is caring. She then calls Kang Suk an uncaring jerk. Inside the house, the main housemaid is trying to figure out why they are now getting two papers since they did not order the sports paper. Song opens the paper and gets Lee out of bed. Why? There is an article about Jung Nan. At breakfast, Song scolds Kang Suk for letting his mother get away with her actions. This annoys Kang Suk. Mrs. Song leaves the table while the clueless Ji Suk tries to figure out just what happened exactly.

Lee has gone to Jung Nan’s. He tells her that he has plans for their son and Jung Nan asked if he came that early just to say that. Lee then says that Jung Nan was in the sports paper. This surprises Jung Nan who didn’t know. Lee tells her to stop singing as it makes Ji Suk’s mom unhappy as she is very sensitive (this is why she should have divorced him when she had the chance years ago). Jung Nan said Mrs. Song must have nagged him to bring him that early. Jung Nan then corrects herself. Song is a lady she doesn’t nag, but rather says things like “what are you going to do about this woman.” Totally right. Lee then says that Jung Nan should quit as it is Song who will be taking care of Kang Suk’s wedding, so it’s best to appease her and stop. Jung Nan refuses to stop her singing. Lee says that no matter what Jung Nan does, he won’t let her go. Oh, how ridiculous.

Back at the boarding house, Yoon Bae is having problems receiving payment for his help with the campaign. This makes Jin Jin worry about whether or not she will get the promised money while Jong Bum complains about eating Oh’s leftovers yet again. At the club, people are busy cleaning and getting the food stall set up and getting the flowers ready for selling when Jong Bum comes out and says people need to work harder instead of being half-assed since their popularity is down right now. Then up runs Dae Baek with the sports paper. He shows everyone the article on Jung Nan. Everyone is surprised to see that Jung Nan was so famous. Jong Bum says he told them she was, but they didn’t believe it. Jong Bum then says the need to blow it up, laminate it, and post it in front of the club to help increase business.

Woo Hyun is yelling at his reporter friend for writing the article without permission and slams down the phone. Jung Nan asks what he is so worked up about when the article will help the club. Woo Hyun then asks if she is okay. Will Chairman Lee be okay with this. Jung Nan says Lee isn’t how he used to be and Woo Hyun asks if she is okay with getting her life messed up. Jung Nan replies that there is nothing she can do and if it ends now, she will be thankful. Woo Hyun tells her to stop singing and just do what chairman Lee wants, but Jung Nan refuses. Now she will live as she wants because she is sick and tired of living as she is told to.

In the dressing room, Dae Bak is sucking up to Jung Nan in hopes of her helping him get an article as well. Jung Nan wants nothing to do with his brown-nosing and Tae Soon gets irritated by Dae Bak’s actions. Mi Na leaves saying again that Tae Soon sees Jung Nan unnie as a rival and leaves. Dae Bak keeps sucking up no matter what spiteful things Jung Nan says. Jin Jin butts into the conversation, making Dae Bak mad. Jung Nan finally turns to him and tells him to just go on stage already. Dae Bak then goes off to perform and Jung Nan asks what Jin Jin wanted to show her.

Jong Bum finishes putting up the blown-up article when Kang Suk arrives. Jong Bum says he must be happy because Jung Nan made news. Kang Suk says nothing and just walks away. Jong Bum wants to know if he’s acting that way just because his mom’s somewhat famous. Dong Ah says he doesn’t know and Eo Jin says that it looks like his uncle is acting jealous. Jin Joo echoes him and Dong Ah yells at them both to go home.

Back in the dressing room, Jin Jin is showing Jung Nan her new performance of “Gloria” and Jung Nan’s response is to ask if Jin Jin is a neighborhood ahjussi (it was really bad). Jin Jin asks if it looks funny. Jung Nan replies that Jin Jin’s singing and dancing are not in rhythm and she gets up to help her and discovers that Jin Jin is ticklish. So she starts tickling the younger girl and in walks Kang Suk on this scene. I have to wonder if he’ll ever be jealous of Jin Jin because she is getting a motherly affection from Kang Suk’s own mother which he never really received in his entire life.

Kang Suk’s presence brings down the mood. Kang Suk asks to talk and Jin Jin goes to leave, but Jung Nan says she has no secrets, so he can talk freely. Kang Suk complains about the article and tells Jung Nan that he will escort her to Hong Kong. He grabs her and goes to leave, but Jung Nan tells him to let her go. Kang Suk refuses, and Jin Jin gets in between them, complaining about Kang Suk’s behavior. Kang Suk shakes Jin Jin off, throwing her to the ground, which makes Jung Nan unhappy. Jin Jin picks herself back up and says that it is really a good thing that Jung Nan is in the paper. He tells her to stay out of it and Jin Jin says he is acting like he has to bear all the burdens in life (he does bear quite a few thanks to his parents’ mistakes). Jin Jin then says that Jung Nan wants to sing here, so who is Kang Suk to interfere with that. Kang Suk asks what she knows and Jin Jin then asks what does she need to know. Jung Nan finally yells at the two to stop bickering as they have to go onstage soon. Kang Suk asks her if she plans on continuing and at her affirmative, he stalks off. After he leaves, Jung Nan asks isn’t her son’s temper a sight to see. If she stays, she will get to see more of him and his temper. Jin Jin asks if Jung Nan likes that and Jung Nan replies that she does and Jin Jin calls both parent and son strange. Jung Nan agrees that they are.

Kang Suk gets home and Song immediately asks what his mother plans on doing. Ji Suk comes downstairs and asks his mother why she is so worked up about a newspaper article. Song replies that she wouldn’t care if they were any ordinary family, but they aren’t. Ji Suk then says their father will know how to handle it. The phone rings and Song answers. Both Ji Suk and Kang Suk stop their ascension up the stairs at the mention of Kang Suk’s name. Song replies that she is Kang Suk’s mother (she has to for appearances’ sake and Yi introduces herself at the mother of Jung Yoon Seo. Yi doesn’t beat around the bush and immediately says she doesn’t want to see Kang Suk and Yoon Seo marry. Yi gets a surprise when Song asks to meet to talk. Yi refuses to meet and Song refuses to meddle. Song gets annoyed by Yi’s attitude and tone. Ji Suk asks who it was and Song looks over at Kang Suk and says he has a charming mother-in-law. She guesses Yi knows who his mother is and that is why she is protesting the marriage so much. Yi should have known better. Song may hate Kang Suk, but she is one who always upholds the boundaries of decorum, etc. Song will not side with Yi. This makes Ji Suk happy, though.

Kang Suk goes to fight and beats his opponent mercilessly. They have to pull him off as he kept hitting even after he won and his opponent gave up. When they finally got him off, he screams out his fury. Poor Kang Suk. Meanwhile, Lee meets with Jung and he says that his son is more petty than he is and will not let insignificant matters go like Lee will. Jung asks what he means and Lee replies if the mother-in-law is unpleasant, it will make things unpleasant for his son. Jung says his wife is sick in bed, so what can Lee possibly mean. Lee then says he is talking about Yoon Seo’s birth mother. The shit has officially hit the fan.

Yoon Seo and her mom are at the hospital visiting Jung’s mother who is supposedly on her last again when Yi gets a call from Jung. He asks where she is and she tells him his mother is unwell again. They get up to the room and Yi immediately begins complaining about how the old bird is pulling through again. Jung comes in and asks how his mother is. Yi replies she is fine and that Jung did not have to come. Jung sends Yoon Seo off by herself so that he can talk to Yi. After she leaves, he says that he will not marry Yi. She replies that she has already given up such hope as he would never marry her while his mother is alive. Jung replies that he wouldn’t marry Yi even if his mother died as the wife of the Jung family needs to be respectable and proper. Yi asks why he is bringing such a topic up again and he immediately tells her to wake up as Yoon Seo being able to marry Kang Suk is enough. No other son from a respectable family will want Yoon Seo is the mistress’s child. Jung then reminds Yi that people still remember she worked at a hostess bar. Yi is really upset to hear this. That’s right, she talks big and wants something even better for her daughter, but she herself is just as shameful as Jung Nan. Perhaps even more so.

On the way home, Yoon Seo sees Dong Ah and tells her driver to stop. He does and she immediately runs out of the car and calls out to Dong Ah who is busy hanging advertisements. He doesn’t hear and she runs across the road and is almost hit. The sounds of the honking and squealing tires catches Dong Ah’s and Dong Chul’s attention. Dong Ah immediately rushes over to the fallen Yoon Seo (hood sliding across an oncoming vehicle – cool, but very dangerous). He reaches Yoon Seo who asks why he didn’t come as she waited for him. This surprises Dong Ah. He gently takes her hands and lifts her to her feet and takes her back across the road safely while Dong Chul watches on in shock.

The two walk hand-in-hand to the place where they first met. The wall where Dong Ah thought she would jump from. He then tells her about how they really first met. Yoon Seo then recalls that moment and remembers that she saw him then. He says that he thought he had found someone as equally sad as him. He was then shocked to find out that she was from a wealthy family so he wondered why she would feel like that. Dong Ah says for that reason he went to her house. Yoon Seo then replies that she felt like she couldn’t breathe and Dong Ah turns around to look at her. Every moment in that house, she always felt like she couldn’t breathe. She then says it will be like that from now on since her life has already been decided for her. Yoon Seo then tells Dong Ah that she can breathe around him and thus wants to be wit him longer. Dong Ah then asks what exactly she wants from him.

Dong Chul is outside the club explaining the scene, but no one believes that Dong Ah ran off hand-in-hand with a beautiful girl. It doesn’t seem possible when you think of Dong Ah, but poor Dong Chul is actually telling the truth. Back to Yoon Seo and Dong Ah, she tells him that she doesn’t know what she wants. Other than dancing, she has never thought about anything else, but for a little while in a different world, she wants to live there for a moment as her life become meaningless. Being with Dong Ah and experiencing new things will give her a little bit of happiness before she settles into a lifetime of unhappiness. When Dong Ah comes to the club, Dong Chul asks him about the beautiful lady. Dong Ah refuses to say anything about Yoon Seo and greets some customers. Eo Jin says he wishes his uncle would really meet a beautiful lady and get married.

The next day Jin Jin goes to Double Sharp for an interview where Ji Young is cussing out workers who failed to get their talent to an audition in time. Another worker comes in and says that the president won’t be there for much longer because he is getting married soon. Ji Young then notices Jin Jin and motions her over. She asked if she brought the demo tape and Jin Jin relplies that she doesn’t have one and asks if she can just sing live. Ji Young then goes to go into the studio to record the demo, but Kang Suk walks in shocking Jin Jin. Ji Young is surprised that they know each other and Kang Suk annoys Ji Young by refusing to listen to Jin Jin as he hates wasting time.

While Ji Young argues with another worker, Jin Jin angrily storms into Kang Suk’s office asking if he really is the president. He asks what will happen if he is. Jin Jin then says if its because he’s a rich man’s son that he treats his mom that way. Ji Young comes in, but Kang Suk sends her back out. Jin Jin then asks if he is embarrassed because his mom is a mistress and Kang Suk says its not because she’s a mistress, but because she hangs out with good for nothing’s like Jin Jin. Kang Suk then tells Jin Jin she came because she wants to be a singer, but she should accept the facts and leave because a person like her has no chance to become a singer. Jin Jin then asks how he knows and he tells her to wait. The day until a dog or pig can become a singer will be the day that she becomes one. Jin Jin throws down the gauntlet and tells him to wait, she will become a singer one day.
