SYNOPSIS

Fuuko (or Fuu-chan for friends) is a lively girl starting her first year of highschool. Her life is turned upside down by the arrival of her new neighbors: the bishōnen Shinpo cousins, Daiya and Ichi.

Fuuko initially falls for the playboy Daiya. Unfortunately, her first love is an unrequited love. Daiya claims he does not know what 'being in love' feels like. Suffering from her first heartbreak, she receives unexpected support from Ichi. Although he seems cold, Ichi actually is in love with Fuuko. The two spend more and more time together, and Fuuko discovers she has feelings for Ichi too. Only 'official' confessions away from being a couple, a woman from Ichi's past shows up. Iori-san used to work for the Shinpo family company. Back then, Ichi had fallen in love with her (even though she had a boyfriend, and was some years older than him). His infatuation was big enough to worry his parents, who had her fired. Now that she's back in his life, Ichi's feelings turn to her again. Not even his budding relationship with Fuuko can lessen his need to be with Iori. Fuuko can't deal with this and they part ways. Fuuko is heartbroken again, but this time the pain runs much deeper. Her love for Ichi was more serious than her former crush on Daiya. Ironically, it's Daiya who supports her through these hard times. Ichi spends his free time with Iori, and Daiya tries his hardest to distract Fuuko. Slowly, Daiya is beginning to understand 'what it is to be in love', as he is falling in love with Fuuko. But she can't return his feelings, she is not over Ichi yet. At New Year, Daiya asks Fuuko if she wants to go out with him. Taking a fresh start, Fuuko accepts. Meanwhile, Ichi says goodbye to Iori, as he finally understands she only sees him as a little brother, while the one she really loves is her boyfriend. Fuuko and Daiya are getting along fairly well as a couple although sometimes Fuuko thinks of Ichi, remembering her lost love for him.

Then at the end of Volume 14, Fuuko is speaking with Ichi in the classroom when she falls and they accidentally kiss. Although the only person who saw was Fuuko's friend, Fuuko is extremely worried about Daiya finding out as she can't work up the courage to tell him honestly. She goes to see Ichi and begs him not to tell Daiya that it happened. Ichi agrees, but the cousins have a misunderstanding which leads Daiya to realize that something happened between Ichi and Fuuko. He finally confronts Fuuko about it and asks her why she didn't tell him from the beginning. Afterwards, they have a fight and don't talk to each other. The next night Fuuko comes out of her window and sees Ichi. They start a conversation, but as they were talking, Daiya sees the two of them. He hides behind a car and thinks that Fuuko still has feelings for Ichi. Daiya, the next day, asks Ichi about any romantic feelings between Ichi and Fuuko, which causes a fight between the two cousins. Later, while Daiya is at work he is hit by a truck and is rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile Fuuko is making a knitted cap for Daiya.

Although at the point Fuuko doesn't find out about the accident, she soon does and makes her way to the hospital with the knitted cap. Daiya is confirmed to be fine, but gets angry at Fuuko accusing her that she still has feelings for Ichi. Fuuko throws the knitted cap at him and claims that she doesn't know what her feelings are at this point but when she was knitting that cap all she thought about was Daiya.

The manga continues with the three friends continuing to be friends and getting along once again. At this point of the manga it leaves of with the secretary of student council seen to be copying Fuuko previous day's hairstyle. Guessed to be because of jealousy of Fuuko's friendliness of the two boys. The manga has recently begun to continue the plot from this point onwards.

Episode 9 synopsis/recap/summary:

Ying Zhi keeps calling and won’t leave him alone and he does his best to ignore her. Why can’t the girl take a hint and just leave him alone and work out her own problems like an adult? While eating lunch in the cafeteria, Yi Cheng shows Xiao Feng her stone where he had drawn a little picture of her. This is after Ying Zhi kept calling nonstop. Xiao Feng asks if he always keeps it with him and he replies that he wants to remind himself of the moment she gave him the stone and it’s innocent happiness. And we all know that he wants to remind himself of that moment to keep strong in the face of Ying Zhi’s selfish pursuit.

When Xiao Feng goes to pick up takeout at Ah Yi’s workplace, in walks Ying Zhi with her coworkers. That woman even has the audacity to slip a note into Yi Cheng’s apron while Xiao Feng watches. Seeing this, Xiao Feng collects her order and rushes off with Ah Yi hot on her heels. He swears that he didn’t know that Ying Zhi was coming and that as soon as she and her friends are done eating, he will send her away. Yi Cheng then gives Xiao Feng the note without even looking at it and goes back into work. Xiao Feng reads the note – Ying Zhi wants Ah Yi to meet her at the convenience store near the apartment complex the following afternoon.

The next day at school, Ah Yi is even more distracted. When classes are done, Xiao Feng asks if he wants to go back with her. He refuses saying that he has after school activities that day. Xiao Feng, feeling guilty then gives him the note. Yi Cheng immediately drops it and asks what Xiao Feng is doing. Xiao Feng then confesses that if she had said nothing, Yi Cheng would still be seeing Ying Zhi as he cannot refuse her. Xiao Feng, breaking her own heart, says that she is strong enough to go without him, so he should go and meet Ying Zhi. Yi Cheng asks why she has to sacrifice herself and go it alone. Xiao Feng insists that she isn’t. Ah Yi, upset at Xiao Feng telling him not to see Ying Zhi only to turn around and tell him to see her, leaves and Xiao Feng sadly watches him go. What can’t he get? They say that one of the best expressions of love is letting a person go. Xiao Feng understands now that as much as Ying Zhi needs Ah Yi, Ah Yi needs Ying Zhi. He may love Xiao Feng, but is it enough to compete with his feelings for Ying Zhi?

The sad Xiao Feng goes to head home and wonders if Ah Yi has happily met up with Ying Zhi. Da Ye sees her depressed face and drags her off to a rooftop. Xiao Feng says that it is off limits, but she still follows Da Ye. She says that she heard only idiots and fools always climb upwards and Da Ye yells that God must be a fool then. Xiao Feng closes her eyes and enjoys the breeze while Da Ye slowly takes her hand and then gives it a painful squeeze. She tells him it hurts and he said he did it on purpose. Nothing like a little physical pain to take your mind off your emotional pain or give you an excuse to cry.

Yi Cheng did go meet with Ying Zhi who immediately tells him that she was worried that Xiao Feng would be angry and that he wouldn’t come. Can she not see how torn up the boy is? Ah Yi then says that he told her they couldn’t see each other anymore. Ying Zhi asks if this is because of Xiao Feng and then asks him to go eat with her. At a café, she says that she always just dumped her problems on him so that she never noticed his relationship with Xiao Feng (she just didn’t want to notice). She says that they can still be friends and that Xiao Feng shouldn’t be angry as there is nothing for her to worry about. Nothing for her to worry about? Ying Zhi is only Yi Cheng’s first love. What girl wouldn’t worry about her man going off to see his first love – especially when he stands her up for it?

That night Ah Yi knocks on Xiao Feng’s window and calls her out. He tells her that he did meet with Ying Zhi and Xiao Feng immediately gets up and says she doesn’t want to hear more as she will then start crying and she doesn’t want to cry. Ah Yi won’t leave it alone and insists on talking. He can’t not care about Ying Zhi, but he also can’t help but care about Xiao Feng. To him at least, Xiao Feng’s pain and tears causes him more distress. Xiao Feng, crying now, shrugs off Ah Yi’s touch. When he puts his hands back on her shoulders, she gives him a mighty shove. Why? To her, that isn’t love, that is sympathy. And the fact that he has to compare and weigh his feelings for her against his feelings for Ying Zhi, really makes her unhappy. Xiao Feng then tells him that she doesn’t want such things and then declares that she really liked him before going into her room where she curls up under a blanket, has a long inner monologue and cries.

The next day an unhappy Yi Cheng meets with Ying Zhi. Instead of saying anything, he just holds her. He is unhappy with how things turned out with Xiao Feng, but he has only himself to blame as he just can’t let go of Ying Zhi (and she won’t let him go either). Meanwhile, Xiao Feng has made herself sick by crying and worrying. Her friends come to cheer her up and learn the whole story. One friend advises her to kiss and make up, but how can Xiao Feng when she just isn’t sure of Ah Yi’s emotions. The other friend tells them that they both need to mature a little – which is true to an extent.

Da Ye goes into Ah Yi’s room and it is empty. He asks if things have to end this way. Good question. Ah Yi is outside and pulls out Xiao Feng’s drawing. He recalls when he first saw it sticking out between two boards. He thought it was fate or a sign. How long had it been there? How long had she been waiting? Has she lost faith in him? He recognizes that Xiao Feng’s dream ever since she was a child was to live happily ever after with her prince. Didn’t he say that he would make her happy (what a great job he is doing on that department – he’s making her hurt worse than being rejected by Da Ye)?

The next day Da Ye and Xiao Feng are walking to school and Da Ye asks what happened to Xiao Feng’s eyes as they are all puffy. Xiao Feng covers her face with her arm and tells him not to look at her eyes and just look ahead and keep walking. Da Ye then says that she looks like she was up drinking all night and Xiao Feng then complains and says that her eyes get puffy too easily making her ugly. Da Ye asks if she has a handkerchief and XIao Feng digs for one, but comes up empty. In the meantime, Da Ye strips off his own shirt and wets it down to cool Xiao Feng’s eyes. (*I admit to liking this scene more in the manga as he had to run from the principle because he stripped off half his uniform for Fu-chan*). Xiao Feng is touched and starts crying while she presses the shirt to her eyes. She is sorry that he exposed himself for her. Da Ye then says that someone wanted to take a picture, but they would have to pay up if they wanted that (said looking into the camera). Xiao Feng keeps crying and Da Ye then asks if she cried like that when he rejected her. Xiao Feng stops crying and raises her head. Da Ye then says that he has decided that he won’t let her cry any more. Xiao Feng thanks him, but tells him not to worry and Da Ye drops the bomb!

What bomb? Da Ye confesses to Xiao Feng that his decision has nothing to do with being a good friend and everything to do with “liking” Xiao Feng! Our girl is completely baffled and lost. Didn’t Da Ye say that he didn’t understand that meaning of like? Da Ye says that was true in the past, but now he thinks that he knows what the feeling of like is. He leans in close to Xiao Feng causing her to lean back. Xiao Feng says that he knows she likes Ah Yi and and Da Ye replies that he does, but he also knows that their relationship is on the rocks. So he has every intention of intruding and trying to win Xiao Feng for himself. He definitely stands a chance since Ah Yi is going back to Ying Zhi (like a complete imbecile). Da Ye then taps her head and runs off leaving Xiao Feng trying to figure out what is going on.

In class, Xiao Feng concentrates on Da Ye’s confession instead of class and then tells herself to forget as he cannot be serious. She then notices that Ah Yi did not show up to class and wonders if he is sick or avoiding her. She then yells out and wonders if Ying Zhi is taking care of a sick Ah Yi. Talk about good at embarrassing herself. At home she notices that Yi Cheng is still not back and that Ying Zhi hasn’t shown up either. She is annoyed that she cannot get Yi Cheng off her mind. Every time she hears something, she thinks it might be Yi Cheng. She hears something outside and thinks that Ah Yi might have dropped off a parfait for her like he used to. When she opens the window there is Da Ye and he has his plain stone on the windowsill. He tells her to just forget Ah Yi and remember that just like now when she is thinking of Ah Yi, to open and close the window a few times and come look for Da Ye. He asks if she gets it and when she is silent, he asks again. Xiao Feng says she gets it and Da Ye jumps up (not that he has to jump very high) to tap her forehead before running off. Xiao Feng looks at the stone and recalls when all the moments between her and Ah Yi in regards to the stone. She then hears Da Ye upstairs playing maracas and tapping on the floor. This brings a smile to her face.

The next morning a bubbly Da Ye bounces down to greet Xiao Feng and ask her to walk together. On the way, Da Ye asks if she heard him. She replies that she did. Da Ye then asks why she didn’t reply back (tapping the ceiling with an umbrella or what not). Xiao Feng claims that is too embarrassing, plus it was late at night. Da Ye then tells her to at least say something out loud if she can’t knock (would he be able to hear if she doesn’t shout it?). Da Ye then teases her about her shortness and how she probably wouldn’t be able to reach the ceiling. Xiao Feng claims she finally reached average height and Da Ye says he was just teasing.

The good mood is spoilt when a bus arrives and Ah Yi steps off. Yi Cheng then says a brief good morning before hurrying off. The surprised Xiao Feng asks why Yi Cheng would need to take the bus and Da Ye replies that he moved out of the apartment and in with their grandmother. Xiao Feng wants to set off to have Ah Yi explain himself, but Da Ye stops her and says that Yi Cheng’s answer would not make her feel any better, which is true – he moved out because of her and his messed up emotions. Da Ye then tells Xiao Feng that he “won’t let her go.” Xiao Feng quietly accepts this, but you can tell she is hurting. She walks off and an annoyed (at Ah Yi, not at Xiao Feng) follows closely behind.

In class, Xiao Feng realizes that Da Ye is right. She can’t ask Yi Cheng to move back in or not to leave as she has no right. Xiao Feng then says that it looks like she and Ah Yi really are just going their separate ways and that there is no chance for them to get back together. True.

Ah Yi arrives at the apartment and quietly begins packing some more of his stuff. Da Ye comes in and complains about Ah Yi acting like a thief, quietly taking his stuff. Yi Cheng then says he is staying at his grandparents longer and just came back to get a few things, he’ll come by for more stuff later. Da Ye then announces that he will take Xiao Feng back. Ah Yi says that she isn’t an object. Da Ye knows this, he is just letting Ah Yi know what he will go after Xiao Feng and take her away from Yi Cheng. Ah Yi doesn’t rise to the bait and just says he will be at their grandparents and that the rest is up to Da Ye. Seriously? Or maybe Ah Yi feels he has lost the right to fight for Xiao Feng because of his actions and confusion? (Even in the manga he never fights for her – the two just quietly let each other go and enter into a season of heartbreak).

The next day Da Ye seeks out Qiu Ying who says she has to reject him as he is too late to confess (teasing of course). Da Ye teases right back saying he knows as she loves her “Ah Ji” Laughing out loud. Qiu Ying smiles and the two walk together. She asks when Da Ye realized his feelings. He says that watching Ah Yi and Xiao Feng struggle, made him realize that he wanted to protect her and wanted to see her smile instead of always cry. What’s more than that, he even had another feeling – that of wanting Xiao Feng for himself. Qiu Ying smiles and congratulates him for finally understanding romantic love. She then asks why he is hesitating. Da Ye says that he doesn’t want to disappoint Xiao Feng and she teases him about not having a problem disappointing her. She then tells him to be brave and confess to Xiao Feng as that is more like him.

At school, Da Ye makes an announcement of an impromptu mini concert and invites all students to join them (I HATE public proposals and confessions –talk about embarrassing and not to mention the burden of acceptance as everyone wants you to accept when you yourself might want to reject and may not be ready for it). Xiao Feng and her friends recognize Da Ye’s voice and excitedly go to leave while Ah Yi ignores the announcement and continues working.

Outside, Ah Ji says that Da Ye is lucky to have him and his friends otherwise Da Ye wouldn’t have been able to get a hold of the instruments. Da Ye says he had no other option and the concert starts. Xiao Feng and her friends coem running up and join the crowd (apparently he is singing a song from the tdrama Hana Kimi – a good drama that eventually grew on me – I didn’t like it at first which starred fellow bandmates Jiro and Wu Chun). He then changes the lyrics to say that he loves Xiao Feng, shocking the crowd an Xiao Feng herself and then he begins rapping his love. Omo. The crowd parts to show Xiao Feng and she then pulls her two friends in front of her – embarrassed, who wouldn’t be? I do have to love Da Ye’s serious expression as he confesses his love to Xiao Feng. Her two friends then push her forward as Da Ye jumps off the stage. The crowd eggs them on and tells them to kiss. Da Ye, knowing Xiao Feng was embarrassed and quickly grabs her hand and runs off, leaving Ah Ji and the others to try and save the situation.

Xiao Feng then complains to Da Ye for rushing things and making decisions one sided. Xiao Feng says that Ah Yi is still the one in her heart, so Da Ye’s public confession is burdensome to him. What a blow (but seriously, she and Ah Yi just broke up – Da Ye is rushing things). Our sad Da Ye apologizes for making her feel burdened by his feelings. In the manga (I don’t know if this will happen in the drama), Da Ye backs off and explains to the school that his feelings are one sided and not to bother Xiao Feng. He then acts more distant around her and doesn’t necessarily stick to her like he would like just to give her some space to get over Ah Yi and accept his feelings. It’s kind of cute set in high school – not so much sure how it will work at the college level.

Xiao Feng returns home to be greeted by Gu Du who wonders why Ah Yi has moved in to their grandparents’ house. Xiao Feng doesn’t know what to say and then says the lie that Ah Yi gave about feeling bad for Da Ye doing all the chores and that is why he moved in with the grandparents. Gu Du then grabs a hold of Xiao Feng’s hand and drags her off to the grandparents’ house. Xiao Feng wants to leave as she feels awkward. Gu Du then says that she needs to talk to Ah Yi and bring him back. Ah Yi shows up, but Xiao Feng covers Gu Du’s mouth and ducks behind the rock, watching Ah Yi just walk by and go into the house. Gu Du scolds her and Xiao Feng starts crying. Gu Du calls them both idiots and starts crying as well as she wanted Xiao Feng and Ah Yi to be together instead of Ah Yi going with Ying Zhi. The two girsl then hold each other and cry.

Xiao Feng goes out with Gu Du and buys a bagful of candy and junk food. Gu Du says she isn’t a kid so she doesn’t need that stuff. Xiao Feng then brings up Gu Du crying with her and Gu Du hands her a business card with her number and tells Xiao Feng to call her when she is in pain. This makes Xiao Feng happy and she gives the little girl a big hug. Gu Du then warns her to only call when Xiao Feng needs her. Xiao Feng is happy to have all of this support, but since she is the one who made the decision to break with Ah Yi, she doesn’t want people to worry about her anymore.

While Xiao Feng is lost in thought, there walks Ah Yi who sees her, but then ignores her. Da Ye sees this and calls Ah Yi out. Xiao Feng tells him to stop and the three go somewhere to talk privately. Da Ye scolds Ah Yi for acting cool and running away – acting like a victim. Xiao Feng tells Da Ye to stop and he tells her to leave if she doesn’t want to listen. Xiao Feng stays and Da Ye then says that Ah Yi isn’t the only one in pain. Yi Cheng then confesses what Xiao Feng told him about him just feeling sympathy and not love. Ah Yi then says that he just doesn’t understand at all. Xiao Feng takes pity on the normally cool Ah Yi – in the end he is just like her – confused about feelings and just what to do. Da Ye yells at him for not understanding and Xiao Feng cuts him off saying that is in the past. This kind of shocks Ah Yi who widens his eyes and then walks off silently. Da Ye and Xiao Feng watch him leave and Da Ye says that it looks like Yi Cheng owns a big piece of her heart so it will take a lot of work to win her. Xiao Feng looks at him and he says that even though he wants to be cool and not pressure her, he can’t stand to see her cry.

The next day Da Ye waits for Xiao Feng and he reiterates that even if Xiao Feng tells him not to pressure or anything, he can’t not care about her. The two then go off to school together. Da Ye asks if she gained weight. She hits his back and he takes her hands and puts them around his waist and tells her to hold on type as the pedals faster. Xiao Feng’s mood has lightened and she tells him to stop so she can give him a ride. Da Ye doesn’t believe she can, but she gets in the driver seat and after an unsteady start, the two plow on ahead (kind of like how their relationship will turn out – a rocky beginning and a solid, steady love).

At the tennis club, Qiu Ying rigs the drawing to put Da Ye and Xiao Feng together to go buy stuff for the club. The members tease them for going on a date. Reading her discomfort, Da Ye asks Qiu Ying along and she actually readily agrees. Why? Ah Ji comes along as well – kind of like a double date. Ah Ji sees a figurine that reminds him of Qiu Ying. He wants to buy it and put it next to his bed (kinda weird and freaky in a way). Qiu Ying then picks up a couple figurine and tells him to get that instead since there is two of them (so cute). Da Ye then picks up a pig figuring and says that it resembles Xiao Feng. Omo – he did not just say that to the girl he likes! Smile with tongue out Xiao Feng asks how it is similar and he says that it is round like Xiao Feng and when it gets made it makes the same noise. Xiao Feng, annoyed goes off to buy the rest of the stuff and accidentally bumps into a display and knocks things over. Da Ye immediately steadies her and helps her pick the mess up. Ah Ji and Qiu Ying watch them, agreeing on the two’s chemistry.

Later the girls go off on their own and Xiao Feng asks why Qiu Ying has such a “scary” expression on her face. Qiu Ying then mentions the moment earlier where Da Ye was holding on tightly to Xiao Feng. Xiao Feng immediately denies the tight hug and says that Qiu Ying is the one being passionate with Ah Ji. Qiu Ying definitely doesn’t like having the tables turned and the two girls continue on. Qiu Ying apologizes for telling Xiao Feng earlier that she wouldn’t cry if Xiao Feng got together with Ah Yi (she has cried even more since). Xiao Feng lays her head on Qiu Ying’s shoulder and says it isn’t her fault. Xiao Feng believes that the blame lies solely on her as she is not special or has any redeeming qualities. Then we have more good natured bickering about Qiu Ying liking Ah Ji. A nice breakup to a heavy moment. I do dislike how XIao Feng immediately thinks there is something personally wrong with her that she couldn’t keep Ah Yi. Not a healthy way to think at all.

Xiao Feng and Da Ye arrive home late as buying things took a little longer than expected. Da Ye asks if she needs him to explain to her mother. Xiao Feng says there is no need and Da Ye says that he is there for her whenever she needs something. He then talks about trying to go her pace and making sure he doesn’t rush her. He is having a hard time figuring out what to do as his mind is a mess because he has realized his feelings. He walks off and Xiao Feng immediately matches her pace to his and they walk together side by side again.

Xiao Feng gets home only to have her sister come out and ask her to buy a pen. Xiao Feng doesn’t want to, but eventually goes and does it (as she gets to keep the change). On her way to the store she sees Ying Zhi and Ah Yi, who is sleeping comfortably. Ying Zhi puts her coat over him and then rushes in to the story quickly. Xiao Feng is hurt to see how deeply Ah Yi can sleep with Ying Zhi (basically meaning that he really trusts Ying Zhi). Xiao Feng believes that this is proof of how their love was really just all of her own feelings, but she can’t blame Ah Yi who genuinely thought he liked her and she honestly thought he really did, too. Now here they both suffer having failed to work things out.

Ah Yi goes home where Gu Du scolds him for still being at their grandparents. She tells him to go home and then asks just where is Xiao Feng lacking that he hates her. Gu Du then says she is not happy to be with her brother if he is going to act that way – running away. Ah Yi thinks to himself that he is not running and hiding from Xiao Feng, but rather himself. Ah Yi then asks if his sister will never look up to him again. Yi Cheng then packs up and goes home to the apartment while Gu Du writes an email to Xiao Feng about how Ah Yi is trying to be brave and explain how things turned out how they did.

Episode 8 synopsis/recap/summary:

Just as Yi Cheng was on his way to meet Xiao Feng for their special birthday date, he gets a call from Ying Zhi. He tells her that he has something going on and she immediately breaks down and asks him what she can do. Looks like she’s going through more problems with her boyfriend. Yi Cheng then texts Xiao Feng to tell her that something came up and that he couldn’t make it. He then rushes off to see Ying Zhi. She cries and tells him about her trouble with Eason and how she doesn’t know what she’d do if she didn’t have him. This is, of course, after she bawls him out for trying to answer his phone when he is with her instead of listening to her woes. Seriously? Talk about a seriously self centered girl. Yi Cheng holds her to his chest while she cries.

Meanwhile, a furious Xiao Feng makes up her mind to wait no longer and goes to the payphone (apparently she forgot her cell so she didn’t get Yi Cheng’s message). She keeps calling him, but keeps getting the phone turned off message. Poor Xiao Feng. Yi Cheng checks his phone and notices the 16 missed calls and tells Ying Zhi to go to bed as he is leaving. She then says that it is a good thing he is there. Poor Yi Cheng. You can tell how upset he is and guilty over ditching Xiao Feng, but he just can’t leave Ying Zhi alone.

Back at the apartment, Xiao Feng finally sees the message after her bath and wonders what was so important that he broke their date. She then hears footsteps approach her window. She listens intently, but doesn’t get up right away. Ah Yi goes to knock, but can’t bring himself to do it. He then sets a parfait on her windowsill and leaves. Xiao Feng hears the retreating footsteps and looks out the window. She takes the parfait and leans against her desk, depressed. Just what is going on?

The next day at school, Yi Cheng is absent. Xiao Feng stares at the seat and decides that she needs to make things clear. That night she asks Da Ye where Yi Cheng was as he was absent. Da Ye replies that he doesn’t know as Ah Yi left early in the morning. Da Ye’s smile fades and he asks what happened to the two as Yi Cheng came back late. Weren’t they celebrating Xiao Feng’s birthday? Xiao Feng wonders if he is sick or if something happened to him. She is seriously worried, but is also changing the topic at the same time as she doesn’t want to tell Da Ye about being stood up by Yi Cheng.

Ying Zhi’s car then pulls up and Yi Cheng gets out. Ying Zhi immediately bounces out of the car and asks if Xiao Feng liked her birthday present as Ying Zhi personally picked it out. This hurts Xiao Feng deeply as she thought that Ying Zhi had carefully picked out a gift for her. Xiao Feng forces a smile and said she loved the present. Ah Yi just hangs his head and says nothing. Ying Zhi says her goodbyes and leaves and Da Ye says he is going up and tells his cousin and friend to talk it out.

After Da Ye leaves, Xiao Feng tells Yi Cheng that she waited until 7pm for him to show up. The guilty Yi Cheng then asks if she received the message. Xiao Feng then tells him that she had forgotten her cell (probably because she was so happy and excited to be going on their first official date). Yi Cheng apologizes and Xiao Feng asks why he didn’t come. Ah Yi apologizes and says he cannot tell he the reasons yet, he needs time. Ouch. Why can’t he just tell her? He then leaves her standing in bewilderment. Back in his room, Yi Cheng stares at Xiao Feng’s white stone and then makes a call to Xiao Feng who is sitting in her bedroom. He apologizes again for not explaining. Xiao Feng asks if he’s okay and she asks if he is okay as he didn’t show up or go to class. Yi Cheng then says that Ying Zhi has some problems. Xiao Feng asks what problems and Ah Yi tells her about Ying Zhi’s fight with her boyfriend. Xiao Feng asks why he didn’t just say that earlier and if that was all, why did he ignore her calls? Yi Cheng remembers Ying Zhi tells him not to answer the phone and remains silent. Xiao Feng, stung, says as long as he’s okay and hangs up. The big dummy. Caught between a broken mug and a painted stone. Why can’t he give up those old feelings. Afterward, Xiao Feng cries as the happiness of receiving Yi Cheng’s present has been marred by learning that Ying Zhi was the one who picked it out.

The next day Da Ye invites Xiao Feng out for breakfast (in the middle of the afternoon, lol). Xiao Feng goes with him and the two visit his grandparents who are also back in Taiwan again. Da Ye’s grandmother Rose is so happy to have Da Ye bring a girl home that she quickly runs out to get his grandfather who is at work. Xiao Feng says that she is surprised to learn she is the first girl Da Ye has brought home (tells you just how seriously he likes her). Da Ye says that he can’t bring random girls home to his grandparents’ house – he’s not like that. While she is gone, Da Ye takes the opportunity to show Xiao Feng around the house. Xiao Feng sees a painting on the stairs and Da Ye says how he and Ah Yi painted it when they were younger, thinking it would please their grandparents. Of course, Jack & Rose (gotta love the Titanic reference hear) were less than thrilled, but didn’t have it covered up to cherish the memoires of their grandchildren. As Da Ye goes on up ahead, Xiao Feng imagines the two boys playing and is happy to be learning more about the two. The two stand out on the balcony and Da Ye talks about the past and his words bring to mind that when the two were forced to work in Shanghai, that must have been when Ah Yi met Ying Zhi. Trying to lighten the mood, Da Ye asks if he is boring Xiao Feng. She immediately replies that she likes learning about his past and they talk about if she’s lived in the same place all her life and then discuss how warm their current neighborhood is.

When Rose returns with Jack in tow, Jack immediately compliments Da Ye for brining a girl home. Da Ye then confesses that Xiao Feng is not his girlfriend, that her feelings are not like that towards him (not anymore and not again yet). Da Ye then says that Xiao Feng has a deeper meaning to him. He doesn’t explain what he means. Jack and Rose are disappointed to learn they aren’t dating, but say it is okay because it could happen in the future. Rose then brings out the photo albums and they look at the pictures of Da Ye and Yi Cheng when they were kids. Jack then brings out a year old album from the company picnic. Xiao Feng comments on seeing Ying Zhi. This angers Jack who wishes to know if Ying Zhi was seeing the boy again. Da Ye quickly lies to cover for Yi Cheng saying they only saw her once. Jack and Rose then complain about how age didn’t matter, what mattered was that she has always had a boyfriend and yet would always be with and lean on Yi Cheng. Hearing this, Xiao Feng sadly wonders why her good friend and the man she loves always chooses sad loves (flashback to when Ah Yi told her that he was willing to accept the part of her that still like Da Ye).

On their way home, Da Ye apologizes for what happened at his grandparents. Xiao Feng says that everything is okay. Besides, she likes Jack and Rose. She sees that Da Ye and Yi Cheng resemble their grandparents a lot. Da Ye repeats that he shouldn’t have brought her there. At this time, Ying Zhi and Ah Yi pull up. Da Ye is annoyed and Xiao Feng is hurt. Da Ye scolds Ying Zhi and Yi Cheng for being together and Ying Zhi (oblivious) says they went to eat and then tells Xiao Feng to bring her friends to the same place next time. Xiao Feng angrily says that it is late and she needs to go in before she get’s scolded. This surprises the other three. Ying Zhi then takes her leave.

Yi Cheng then knocks on Xiao Feng’s window and calls her out to talk. He explains that they only ate and talked. Xiao Feng says that it isn’t any of her business and Ah Yi asked why she ran away. Xiao Feng turns and glares at him before standing up. She then says that she is worried that Ah Yi is getting himself into another hopeless love. She scolds Ying Zhi for basically cheating on her boyfriend with Yi Cheng, stringing Yi Cheng along. Ah Yi jumps to Ying Zhi’s defense saying that she is rather fragile and he feels that he has to be there for her. Xiao Feng thinks Ying Zhi is selfish and should sort things out for herself. Ah Yi says she isn’t like that and Xiao Feng demands to know what happens when Ah Yi needs Ying Zhi. Will she be there for him when Yi Cheng needs her the most? End conversation with a silent Ah Yi who just can’t answer. Da Ye stands unhappily above having heard everything.

The next day walking to school, Ah Yi wishes Xiao Feng a happy birthday. She thanks him and then says she is now older than he is. Yi Cheng then calls her an old lady and the annoyed Xiao Feng says that if she is an old lady then Ying Zhi is a super-old lady. Yi Cheng then scolds her for only being a few days older and yet being so immature. He leaves and Xiao Feng goes in the opposite direction. She then has to back track. LMAO at how she totally forgot which class she was going to just because of Ah Yi.

In class, Xiao Sen and Da Lin give Xiao Feng her present. Xiao Feng happily receives it, but is disappointed to learn that neither of her friends are able to spend her birthday with her. Xiao Feng then seek out Qiu Ying who says that she has a date with Ah Ji. Xiao Feng asks if her senior would rather spend time with her boyfriend instead of the lonely Xiao Feng. Qiu Ying is quick to choose her boyfriend. Poor Xiao Feng! [Not really, I already knew what was coming and it is a given that most of the time in dramas when something that important is “forgotten” a surprise is really panned instead]

Xiao Feng is depressed in her room and daydreaming about Ah Yi proposing to her on her birthday. Which is then ruined when he smacks her on the head with the certificate. Which was really just a picture frame falling off the wall and bringing her back to reality. Ah Yi recalls Da Ye telling him about a surprise party for Xiao Feng and he is on his way out when a frantic Ying Zhi calls. She went to visit Eason at work, but he was on a business trip. Now she is trapped with Eason’s boss who won’t leave her alone and is making her drink. Yi Cheng tries to find out where she is, but she hangs up as Eason’s boss is trying to get in. Drama queen.

Da Ye comes a knockin’ on Xiao Feng’s door. He tells her that a classmate wants a Wimbledon video and he remembered that Xiao Feng has the keys to the tennis room where the video is. Xiao Feng is a little surprised by this but eventually agrees to go. Da Ye catches sight of Yi Cheng getting into a cab and quickly diverts Xiao Feng’s attention so she doesn’t see. They get to the club room and the door is unlocked. Yi Cheng says maybe it is a robber and shoves Xiao Feng in first (if he had really thought that, he would definitely have protected Xiao Feng by going in first). The lights come on and everyone who said they had other plans are all there with a cake (sans Yi Cheng who is frantically searching for the missing Ying Zhi). Xiao Feng is happy to be spending her birthday with her friends, but is sad that Ah Yi is not there. Da Ye lies and says that Yi Cheng had to work. Bad Da Ye!

Yi Cheng learns that Ying Zhi is in a bar and continues searching. He finds it and picks up a flower pot outside to brain Eason’s boss with. When he gets inside her finds Ying Zhi laughing and having a good time with Eason’s FEMALE boss. The witch lied!!!!! When Yi Cheng asks what happened (after getting laughed at and mocked by both women) Ying Zhi replies that she didn’t know what to do as Eason’s boss asked her what he’s been up to, but Ying Zhi doesn’t know. She then passes out. Seriously?????? That is the reason she made up some bull story to get him there. Yi Cheng should just leave the selfish, drunk passed out witch. What she pulled was a load of crap. Despite her “vulnerability” there should be a limit to what he lets her get away with.

Yi Cheng rushes to the tennis club, but by the time he gets there, it is dark and empty. When Yi Cheng gets home Da Ye says that he was at work. Ah Yi asks what he means and Da Ye says that he told Xiao Feng that Yi Cheng couldn’t make it because of work.

In class the next day, Xiao Feng overhears other classmates complaining about how they went to Yi Cheng’s work and he was not there so they couldn’t get a discount. The annoyed Xiao Feng quickly leaves and pulls Da Ye out. She understands he was just trying to help her, but she complains that him doing that hurt more than it helped. True, lying in that case was NEVER a good idea. Instead of going back to class, the embarrassed Xiao Feng hides. Yi Cheng finds her, but she pretends to be asleep. He lovingly puts his shirt over her head to block the sun and apologizes. As he walks away, Xiao Feng cries and wonders if that “sorry” was a signal that the end was near.

After school, Da Ye looks for Xiao Feng and learns that she is heading home. He rushes out to find her. Xiao Feng then runs into Ying Zhi who warmly greets her. Xiao Feng then turns and asks if Yi Cheng has plans with Ying Zhi. Ying Zhi replies that they have no plans, she just looking for him in hopes they can do something. Xiao Feng then says that Yi Cheng is very busy and doesn’t have a lot of time to do all the things he needs to do. Ying Zhi doesn’t let this phase her and says that Ah Yi is a really good friend. Enter Yi Cheng while Da Ye angrily watches from behind a column. But he does come out, too. Why? He’s giving Ah Yi and Ying Zhi a piece of his mind. Ah Yi steps in front of Ying Zhi and tells Da Ye to stop and mind his own business as this is just between him and Ying Zhi, but Da Ye is right. Ying Zhi is immature and hasn’t changed at all which doesn’t help the wavering Yi Cheng. Poor Xiao Feng is hurt to see how quickly Ah Yi jumps to Ying Zhi’s defense. Unable to get through to Yi Cheng or Ying Zhi, Da Ye says that it doesn’t only involve two people now and he then grabs Xiao Feng’s hand saying that they will get nowhere talking to those two and he pulls her away. Yi Cheng, Yi Cheng. Who is the biggest idiot of them all? Ni.

Da Ye then takes Xiao Feng to climb a mountain. Random (but that’s what happens in the manga, just when they visited the grandparents instead of at that exact moment). The two huff and puff and Xiao Feng wonders why they have to climb and Da Ye says it’s because he wants a fit and happy life (for himself and Xiao Feng). The two keep climbing until they reach the top and can see the sunset over Taipei. Da Ye smiles and says that the things that are the most worth seeing are the ones that take a little work to get. Xiao Feng stares at the amazing view, admiring it, but then thinks of Ah Yi and begins crying. Da Ye catches her tears and tells her to look at the scenery as well so their trip isn’t wasted. So Xiao Feng watches the sunset through her tears.

Back home, Xiao Feng helps her sister once again. When her jie asks how things are going, Xiao Feng then asks if what is going on in the manga is sympathy versus love. Xiao Yu says that is right in away. Sympathy can turn to affection, but if that is all there is, then those relationships will come to an end sooner or later as the two will have nothing in common. This pleases Xiao Feng as she thinks it might just be sympathy and nothing more between Yi Cheng and Ying Zhi. But then her sister rains on her parade by saying that it is an entirely different matter if both parties need each other. Xiao Feng knows that Ying Zhi needs Ah Yi, but does he need her as well?

The next day, Xiao Feng stakes everything on Ah Yi’s reply. Reply to what? Xiao Feng asks him to stop seeing Ying Zhi. He asks why and Xiao Feng says it’s because she is his friend and doesn’t want to see him get hurt, but can’t quite bring herself to come right out and confess how she feels to him. Yi Cheng, knowing what she means, quickly says that he will see Ying Zhi no more. Xiao Feng tells her friends about Ah Yi’s promise and they are happy, but Xiao Feng isn’t sure if she did the right thing. She trusts that Ah Yi will keep the promise, but she also sees him hurting by turning Ying Zhi away. Yi Cheng tells Ying Zhi not to come around any more. When she asks why, Xiao Feng appears and Yi Cheng goes and grabs her and the two walk off.

Xiao Feng finally stops him and asks where he is taking her. Ah Yi says nothing and Xiao Feng asks if he knows that she likes him. He replies that he’s known for quite awhile now. She then thanks him for keeping his word while also feeling conflicted that he is hurting for turning the weak Ying Zhi away.

That night, Ah Yi stares at the cup and stone and thinks back on all the moments between Xiao Feng and he (good and bad) and what was going on with him and Ying Zhi. He resolutely picks up the mug to throw away, but just can’t bring himself to do it. LET GO ALREADY!!!! Da Ye looks into his cousin’s room and sees him sitting on the bed with the mug. He quietly closes the door and leans against it, unhappy. No one is really happy right now.

The next day Da Ye is out grocery shopping and bumps into Xiao Feng who is carrying several shopping bags. He quickly takes them and comments on how heavy they were for such a small girl. She thanks him for helping and then tells him to wait a moment. She runs off and comes back with a bag of donuts to show her gratitude for everything that he’s done for her (although that is nowhere near enough thanks for all he has done for her). Da Ye asks if something happened and Xiao Feng says that Ah Yi promised to stop seeing Ying Zhi. Da Ye looks less than happy and we end the episode.

The previews show Xiao Feng choosing to give Ah Yi up so he can help Ying Zhi and Da Ye announces he will confess and go after Xiao Feng. Yep, definitely following the manga. This happens in like between volumes 10-13 I think if anyone is curious to know what will happen in advance.

Episode 6 synopsis/recap/summary:

We pick up right where we left off in episode 5. Xiao Feng falls and hurts her ankle while playing a game of rolling a hay bale to see who can reach the finish line first. Yi Cheng reaches her first, calls her stupid and quickly piggybacks her to get help. The girls notice and think its a good thing, but you can tell Da Ye is feeling a little conflicted about what is going on. Xiao Feng asks if she is heavy and Yi Cheng complains about her weight, making her mad Xiao Feng thinks about all the horrible things Yi Cheng says and does, but then recalls how nice and understanding he is as well. She just doesn’t get it. What’s to get? Yi Cheng is the type to bully the girl he really likes in a way to hide his own feelings, which then become apparent when he starts doing nice things for Xiao Feng.

In the girl’s room, the others are teasing Xiao Feng about her incredibly good luck. Xiao Feng wants to know how this is good and they say its because she got a piggyback from Yi Cheng and all this attention. They then say it would be even better if she broke her ankle. Friends indeed! Xiao Feng scolds them for making light of the injury and even Qiu Ying says its really a good thing. The other two then compare Da Ye and Yi Cheng as the sun and moon (respectively). They then ask Xiao Feng to fess up about what is going on with Yi Cheng. Has he confessed? Does Xiao Feng like him? Not able to take any more of their teasing or questions, Xiao Feng gets up and hobbles to the convenience store nearby to get food.

In the store, Xiao Feng runs into Da Ye who is out shopping for food as well. Da Ye who asks where Yi Cheng is. Xiao Feng says she doesn’t know and goes to look at more food, but winces from the pain. Da Ye grabs her shoulder and tells her to be careful as she injured her foot. He then offers to help her along. Next thing we know a bag flies out of nowhere and hits Da Ye in the head and then we see Yi Cheng. He really meant it when he said he would make sure they would have no opportunities to be alone together. Da Ye asks what that was for and Yi Cheng replies that it is Da Ye’s favorite ramen so he should make some for the two of them. Yeah right, it was just because Da Ye touched Xiao Feng’s shoulder. Yi Cheng walks away and Da Ye complains not knowing what he did that angered his cousin. Da Ye then notices Xiao Feng spacing out and asks what the matter is. Xiao Feng says she wasn’t and then asks what he said (because that so proved she wasn’t spacing out). Da Ye then asks if Xiao Feng as notices that Yi Cheng gets annoyed every time Da Ye approaches Xiao Feng. She immediately denies noticing anything of the sort. Oh, geez, how clueless can Da Ye get? He already guessed awhile ago that Yi Cheng had feelings for Xiao Feng so why should it be shocking that Yi Cheng would be annoyed that Da Ye hangs around Xiao Feng (especially since Xiao Feng liked Da Ye first).

Da Ye asks if Xiao Feng knows the reason and she quickly replies that she doesn’t. She then says that maybe the weather is so hot that if fried Yi Cheng’s brain. Yi Cheng comes up at this point and says that it’s Xiao Feng’s brain that has been fried. Yi Cheng then scolds Xiao Feng for running around with an injured foot that looks like it is getting worse. Xiao Feng says it isn’t, but when she takes a step she winces and Da Ye grabs her shoulders and tells her to be careful. Yi Cheng then tells her to ask the others next time to get stuff for her. He then walks up, turns around and tells her to get on. This seems to shock Da Ye and makes Xiao Feng uncomfortable. Xiao Feng looks at Da Ye who forces a smile and says that he wants to look at magazines, so she should go ahead and let Ah Yi carry her. Xiao Feng reluctantly gets on Yi Cheng’s back and the two leave the store while Da Ye watches on looking rather unhappy/confused. Is he finally coming to understand that he likes Xiao Feng more than he originally thought? As more than just a really good friend he doesn’t want to lose?

On the walk home, Yi Cheng says he bought plasters for her to put on when she gets back (he’s so thoughtful and sweet). Xiao Feng thanks him and thinks back to what her friends were saying earlier about how Da Ye was the sun and Yi Cheng was the moon. Da Ye shined so bright, that he blinded people to Yi Cheng, but once the sun goes down, there is the moon which is always steady and there. Yi Cheng then asks Xiao Feng to quit avoiding him to which she adamantly insists that she isn’t. Oh, yes she is. Not knowing how to face his feelings or her own, she tried hard to avoid him, or at least being alone with him. Xiao Feng then asks why he likes her. His answer: he doesn’t know. Having watched her like Da Ye, laugh, and cry, when he finally woke up, there was only Xiao Feng in his eyes. Ah, they definitely gave Aaron the cheesiest lines in the drama and Calvin some of the corniest, silliest ones. Xiao Feng then calls him cruel for saying those things as what girl could possibly reject him. His answer is quite simple: then don’t reject him.

Xiao Feng gets back to the room alone where she is confronted by the three other girls who tell her to hurry and rush outside because Yi Cheng is sitting all alone and looks to be in a bad mood. Xiao Feng refuses to go because they tell her to. Wanting to know why, Xiao Feng tells them it is because she rushed thinks with Da Ye and she doesn’t want to do that with Yi Cheng. She wants this budding love to be taken slow and easy and doing things in her own way and time versus letting others pressure her into doing things she wasn’t quite ready for. Qiu Ying and the others understand and respect this decision.

In the end, Xiao Feng does go out to see Yi Cheng who is leaning back with his eyes closed so he doesn’t notices Xiao Feng until she is on top of him. He asks her why she is sneaking up on people and she replies that she saw him sitting there looking gloomy so she decided to go see him and cheer him up. Xiao Feng sits down and we have a nice awkward silence broken only when Ah Ji and the girls go by to take a moonlight beach stroll. Looks like the two were set up! Xiao Feng complained that the group left them alone while they hang out and have fun. Yi Cheng tells her to go with them if she wants as he is fine alone. Guilt trip much? But Xiao Feng sits back down (you know that made Yi Cheng happy). Xiao Feng then tells Yi Cheng that Da Ye doesn’t have any ulterior motives and Yi Cheng says that he knows (he just can’t tamp down that old jealousy). Xiao Feng then tells him to go easier on Da Ye if Yi Cheng really does understand that Da Ye isn’t pursuing Xiao Feng. She then says that despite being rejected by Da Ye, she still values their friendship and she cherishes him. Yi Cheng smiles at this (kind of a bitter smile) and then scolds Xiao Feng for saying such cruel words in front of him. Xiao Feng then says that Yi Cheng is misunderstanding as Da Ye is only a friend. Yi Cheng then stands up and lists all of Xiao Feng’s faults and wants to know why he likes her so much. Xiao Feng asks how she would know and then we see Da Ye step out onto his balcony where he notices Xiao Feng and Yi Cheng below. Again, he does not look happy.

As the group leaves the next day, Xiao Feng says that the healing of broken hearts has been completed. She is really glad that she came and got to work things out (even as things did not go to plan). Nothing has changed and progressed, but she feels she understands things more. Everything is connected in some way (gotta love how during this monologue she has Yi Cheng on one side helping her and Da Ye on the other side – the story of her love life, sandwiched between the cousins). When she gets home, Xiao Feng looks at Da Ye’s pictures and decides to put things behind her at last. She is no longer hurt by his rejection and her heart is beginning to open up again. She then puts the pictures away in an envelope.

Xiao Feng goes to pick up her last paycheck and gets a hug from the boss and is told that she also got a bonus. Xiao Feng happily counts the money and decides that she should buy some gifts. She then remembers that Da Ye’s birthday is coming up. Later that night, walking home with Yi Cheng, Xiao Feng asks him what he plans to do for Da Ye’s birthday. Yi Cheng says he has never done anything for his cousin, which shocks Xiao Feng. Yi Cheng then tells her that they’ll go shopping together the next day and split the present. An official, unofficial date! Will this one be better than the last one?

The next day as Yi Cheng and Xiao Feng search for a gift (Da Ye has come right out and said he wanted a mountain bike) everyone talks to them like they are a couple. Xiao Feng keeps saying that they are not, that it is just a misunderstanding, but people can’t believe that. Needless to say, it makes Yi Cheng happy to hear that others think they are a couple, and unhappy to hear Xiao Feng adamantly denying everything. And talk about random occurrences -a television show looking for couples spots them and asks about their relationship. Xiao Feng says they aren’t in one and Yi Cheng confirms it, saying there is already someone else in Xiao Feng’s heart. The reporter doesn’t believe them and won’t leave them alone. So Yi Cheng grabs Xiao Feng’s hand tightly and they run for, actually being chased by the film crew. When they finally manage to escape, Xiao Feng demands to know why Yi Cheng said what he did and he replies that he just stated the truth. Xiao Feng is unhappy that Yi Cheng has misunderstood her – she no longer likes Da Ye like that.

Back at the apartments, Xiao Feng is downstairs decorating a cake for Da Ye’s party. Her sister comments on the cheapness of the cake and Xiao Feng says that she and Yi Cheng got a super expensive gift for Da Ye, plus she goes to her room and gets the envelope that she put his pictures in. Upstairs, Yi Cheng and Xiao Feng “surprise” Da Ye and Yi Cheng tells him to stop faking it. He asks after the present and Xiao Feng said they got what he wanted. Da Ye turns around and sees a mini bicycle, not the 24 speed mountain bike. He turns around upset by this and Xiao Feng says that they are just teasing him. Xiao Feng then says she has one more gift and gets the card out of her purse. She apologizes for doing something weird as Da Ye opens the envelope and sees his pictures. Xiao Feng says that she cannot keep them anymore nor can she throw them away. She then says that the two cousins have to continue to look over her. She smiles at Yi Cheng who smiles back as she is wearing his hairpin that he said was a gift to “start over.” Progress?

Later Yi Cheng looks at his phone and notices he has a message from Zhi Ying. She scolds him for ignoring her calls and not picking up. Yi Cheng then remembers a scene where he asks his grandfather why Zhi Ying was fired. His grandfather then yells at Yi Cheng for disappointing him – has Yi Cheng forgotten who he is? No he hasn’t. The next day at school Xiao Feng approaches Yi Cheng. In a way to declare her feelings, she gives him a handmade mug to replace the special one that was broken. Needless to say Yi Cheng freaks and says that he doesn’t want it. Pushing it away, it accidentally falls to the floor and smashes. Makes you wonder if the relationship is doomed to failure like his first was? Xiao Feng goes home upset, wondering why Yi Cheng rejected it so harshly.

The next day at tennis practice, Xiao Feng is distracted and plays horribly. Da Ye comes up to her to talk and notices Yi Cheng. He then tells her that it looks like Ah Yi is looking for her. Xiao Feng goes off with Yi Cheng and he gives her a parfait (he seems to like doing that) and then apologizes for breaking the mug. He says that he isn’t supposed to be that fierce. Xiao Feng tells him it isn’t a problem as the mug was very ugly (it seriously wasn’t the best looking, but it was the thought and feelings behind it that mattered) so he couldn’t have wanted to use it anyway. Yi Cheng tells her not to be like that as that was not the reason at all. He then goes on to say that she is the first to give him a handmade mug and that made him very happy. In his heart it is the best gift he’s ever received. Xiao Feng then goes to ask about the broken mug and is immediately cut off by Yi Cheng who says that if its broken then it’s broken (how…inane), so it is not important. The important this is that he understands the feelings he has for her and he asks her to seriously consider and understand the him that stands before her. Xiao Feng nods her agreement and Yi Cheng lightens the heavy atmosphere by joking about her hideous mug. He then takes out a spoon and tells her to eat her parfait. And just like that, the fight has ended. Xiao Feng asks herself if she really understands everything Yi Cheng is telling her. Honestly most of what comes of his mouth is difficult to understand, so why does she keep nodding? Isn’t it a little late to be asking that?

Yi Cheng gets home and Da Ye asks if he wants some fried rice. Yi Cheng declines and Da Ye asks if he went out to eat with Xiao Feng. Yi Cheng says that he did and Da Ye lets out a disappointed “oh.” Yi Cheng asks what is wrong, but his cousin insists that it is nothing. Yi Cheng then goes to take a bath and Da Ye continues watching TV where he sees the gorilla interview of Xiao Feng and Yi Cheng. We get to see Xiao Feng’s parents’ shocked expressions, Qiu Ying’s satisfied look, and Da Ye’s shocked, unhappy face (especially at the part where it says that the couple won an overseas cruise).

The next day, the news about the broadcast has spread like fire. Poor Xiao Feng cannot escape rumors…funny how they all have involved Yi Cheng and never Da Ye. Xiao Feng’s friends immediately jump to her defense to explain that she didn’t get a prize and that she and Yi Cheng aren’t really a couple. Their classmates refuse to believe this and Xiao Feng insists that it is really true and gets teased saying that if they aren’t dating, then they must be “friends with benefits.” Talk about a snowballing situation. Yi Cheng comes in and Xiao Feng and her friends plead for him to speak up, but Yi Cheng tells them just to talk.

After class, Xiao Feng walks with her friends and complains about how she can’t seem to clear her name on this one. Her friends agree that she is quite unlucky to have such a random, horrible thing like that happen. Xiao Feng wonders how long the rumors will last this time as it took her a long time to get out of Da Ye’s shadow. Her friends then ask if she likes Yi Cheng as he is not that bad of a guy. Xiao Feng then says that isn’t the point. Nothing like avoiding the subject to hide the fact that she really likes him. Before her friends can grill her more, Ah Ji pops up out of nowhere. He asks if Ah Yi and Xiao Feng are going out. He then complains that as her ex, he is the last one to find out. He says he forgives her as he himself is lost in a new love. Who? Qiu Ying senior! Xiao Feng’s two friends are happy that Ah Ji and Xiao Feng are getting new loves to forget their old ones.

At tennis practice, Qiu Ying runs up and asks if Xiao Feng is really going out with Yi Cheng and Xiao Feng says no and that they left that part out of the interview. Qiu Ying is disappointed and feels sorry for Yi Cheng who gets neglected by Xiao Feng all because of Da Ye (not true at all actually). Xiao Feng says that it isn’t true and that she is over Da Ye. At this time a girl runs up all excited about Yi Cheng and Xiao Feng going out. Qiu Ying and Xiao Feng say it isn’t true, but the girl doesn’t believe them and runs over to ask Da Ye with Xiao Feng calling out after the girl that it isn’t true. The girl then asks Da Ye who snaps (well, a pretty mild snap)! We have never seen a Da Ye quite like this before. He is never unkind, especially to girls. Xiao Feng and Qiu Ying are shocked by the sudden change even after Da Ye played if off as trying to act cool.

Xiao Feng thanks him after practice and he asks why. Xiao Feng says for clearing things up with the upperclassman about her and Yi Cheng. Da Ye says nothing and picks up three stones. Xiao Feng asks what was wrong and Da Ye explains that he can’t even really answer when people ask about the two because they don’t tell him anything any more (poor, excluded Da Ye). He shows the stones in one hand and says that’s how the three used to be. He then takes one stone away and holds it in his other hand and says that’s how they are now. He is all alone and Yi Cheng and Xiao Feng are together. Xiao Feng is surprised to hear that Da Ye feels excluded. She immediately says that was not her intentions and not to feel bad. Da Ye then insists that is how it feels to him. Xiao Feng apologizes, saying that she never meant to do that, she just doesn’t know how to explain things. She can’t go and tell him that Yi Cheng confessed. Da Ye tells her not to worry as the main problem lies with Yi Cheng and not her. He then leaves, setting down two of the stones. Xiao Feng picks them up and wonders if she and Yi Cheng really pushed Da Ye out.

The next day, the Xing boys get ready to see their grandparents who are coming. Da Ye complains that when they see them its tiring listening when one person talks and there are supposed to be two listening, but it seems like he is the only one. Yi Cheng then says that he will have to leave early as he has plans later. Da Ye then says that the two will become complete strangers soon as Yi Cheng never tells him anything anymore. They go meet their grandparents who are in a good mood and they ask about girlfriends. Da Ye immediately replies that Yi Cheng has a new one, to which his grandparents are happy to hear. Yi Cheng denies this and Da Ye asks about the rumors and then scolds Yi Cheng for letting Xiao Feng face them alone. Yi Cheng says the other students will get bored after awhile and Da Ye then demands to know if Yi Cheng really likes Xiao Feng then. Yi Cheng doesn’t answer and his grandmother urges him to explain while Da Ye reiterates the question. Da Ye then goes all big brother (though we know its more than that) and says that if Yi Cheng doesn’t have the courage to like Xiao Feng, then he should leave her alone before she gets hurt. Yi Cheng still says nothing and just leaves. Da Ye then picks up his bag and follows his cousin out leaving their grandparents mystified as to just what is going on.

Da Ye catches up to Yi Cheng and tells him that he is hurting Xiao Feng in this way. Yi Cheng asks how he is hurting her and Da Ye says that at least Da Ye thinks Yi Cheng is. Da Ye then brings up that he can tell Yi Cheng still isn’t over Zhi Ying, so what right does Yi Cheng have to like Xiao Feng? Good question. Yi Cheng will only end up hurting Xiao Feng if he continues like this as Xiao Feng knows nothing. Yi Cheng then snaps and tells Da Ye to remember that Da Ye was the one who turned down Xiao Feng’s confession and hurt her so what right does Da Ye have to say such things to him. Yi Cheng then also says that it is none of Da Ye’s business what is between him and Xiao Feng and leaves. Da Ye stares after him, arms crossed and frustrated.

Back at the apartment, Yi Cheng recalls Da Ye’s words and looks at the broken mug. He finally puts it away in his closet. At that moment Ying Zhi calls. He picks up his phone but ignores the call again. Ignoring Ying Zhi won’t make the past go away.

The next day at the library, a student calls Yi Cheng out. Xiao Feng and her friends overhear this and follow to watch (though Xiao Feng first refused to, her curiosity got the better of her). She and her friends go out and hear the confession. When the girl asks about Yi Cheng’s and Xiao Feng’s relationship, Xiao Feng is slightly disappointed when Yi Cheng describes her as a neighbor and classmate. Yi Cheng then says he has a girl in his heart that he cannot forget. They think that this girl is Xiao Feng, but truthfully I believe he means Ying Zhi.

That night Xiao Feng goes up to the Xing apartment with a platter of dumplings her father made. Da Ye is excited and invites Xiao Feng to eat with them. Xiao Feng agrees and Da Ye goes to get the dumplings ready. When Da Ye goes off to cook, Xiao Feng then complains about Yi Cheng still not doing housework. She then says if the girl from earlier saw him, she would be disappointed. Yi Cheng asks what she means and Xiao Feng says that she saw the entire confession. Yi Cheng calls her lame. Xiao Feng then tries to back peddle and Yi Cheng accuses her of invading other people’s privacy. Xiao Feng gets angry and says that she didn’t and calls him a petty ghost. Da Ye hears the argument and comes out and asks what they are talking about. They both turn away and say that they are not talking about nothing. Da Ye then complains about them excluding him again. He then attacks Yi Cheng for not speaking up and making the situation with the students worse. Da Ye then tells him to stop making Xiao Feng talk for him. Yi Cheng then tells Da Ye that he likes Xiao Feng. Da Ye then has an unhappy look as if he was hoping deep down that Yi Cheng wouldn’t admit it. Da Ye then puts on a happy face and congratulates his cousin. Yi Cheng then says that saying his feelings doesn’t matter as Xiao Feng doesn’t feel that way so it will only cause her trouble. This surprises Xiao Feng who thought that she had made her feelings clear on Da Ye’s birthday (not really – her way of saying it was too confusing and her trying to rectify now was even worse).

Later Xiao Feng thinks about what she said and realized that it made her sound like she wanted both brothers at once. Her sister then comes in and tells her that her manhua was picked up by a magazine. Xiao Feng is happy for her sister who then asks for help in getting the pages done. We then have a sappy weird montage of Da Ye and Xiao Feng in high school uniforms hugging. We then see Da Ye, Xiao Feng, and Yi Cheng staring at the manga as her sister asks how it is. Yi Cheng, obviously is less than pleased to have the girl he likes and his cousin as main characters in a romance. Xiao Feng then chides her Xiao Yu for even using their real names. Da Ye tells Xiao Feng not to worry and say that since it’s a dream that won’t happen in real life, at least let it happen in the manhua world. Talk about insensitive. Xiao Feng asks Da Ye if she can stab him with a pencil (it was deserved) and Yi Cheng asks if next time Xiao Yu could used him and Xiao Feng as main characters instead. Awkwardness x 2. How embarrassing. The four then set out to get to work and Yi Cheng says that she has something on her face and takes it off. This happens a lot in this drama. It seems to effect Xiao Feng more than Da Ye’s hand on her shoulder. Da Ye sees this and definitely looks even more unhappy. When will he realize?

To raise money for the class field trip, they vote on what they want to do. Xiao Feng isn’t paying attention and is called on to voice her opinion. She then says running an okonimiyaki shop. They have Yi Cheng who can teach them how since he works part-time in a restaurant. Yi Cheng is shocked by this and doesn’t want to, but he doesn’t get a choice. Nice. They even mention doing it in drag. Omo, poor Yi Cheng!

The classmates practice in the Xing apartment much to Yi Cheng’s unhappiness. Xiao Feng apologizes, but Da Ye tells her not to worry as the more the merrier. Her two friends then start arguing about who is better. One says that Da Ye is better because Yi Cheng is colder. Yi Cheng looks at them and tell them to stop talking bad about him in front of him. The girls then ask what secrets Yi Cheng must be hiding and then ask Xiao Feng what room is his. Xiao Feng goes to answer but Yi Cheng jumps up and covers her mouth. Da Ye answers for her and everyone goes into his room and starts rifling through things. They even look at his underwear. Talk about an invasion into privacy. Xiao Feng then opens up the curtain to his closet and sees the broken mug Ying Zhi gave him. Instantly the good mood goes down an Da Ye laughs it off and says that Xiao Feng found the ? (I am assuming naughty comics) that he hid in Yi Cheng’s room. Everyone is then ushered out and Xiao Feng apologizes. Yi Cheng says that it is okay and leaves, but Xiao Feng doesn’t feel to good and Da Ye is upset watching her. He knows something is wrong.

After everyone left Da Ye asks if Yi Cheng kept the mug. Can he really not forget Ying Zhi? Yi Cheng says it is not like that and Da Ye says forget it if Yi Cheng refuses to talk. Da Ye then says that Xiao Feng is a really nice girl who is quite different from the other girl so Yi Cheng needs to cherish her. Yi Cheng says that is weird coming from his cousin and Da Ye asks if he is being lectured. Da Ye then grabs his neck, playing around and asks him to spill. Yi Cheng tells him enough and then asks his cousin if he really won’t regret it. Da Ye’s face gets serious and Yi Cheng asks again if Da Ye won’t regret it if Yi Cheng and Xiao Feng get together. Da Ye puts on a smile and says he will make Yi Cheng regret it if he hurts Xiao Feng and then goes back to playing. But his smile disappears. Looks like he already regrets.

The day of the festival dawns and Xiao Feng helps Yi Cheng get into his drag hair. Xiao Feng goes to hand out flowers and sees Da Ye and Ah Ji doing a performance to confess to Qiu Yiing who is in the bathroom looking happy and touched. Xiao Feng goes to follow, but a little girl grabs her hand and asks where her mom is. Xiao Feng then goes to help the little girl find her mother. Meanwhile, back at the shop the orders are getting stacked up. Xiao Feng’s friends complain about her absence and Yi Cheng goes in search of her where he spies her helping the little girl.

End episode.
